Ah, Boys, we do love our toys…& things for a man ‘space’. This male retreat used to be called a study, shed or a garage, but Man-ctuary, Man Cave, Dad Den, Bro-main, etc. are tags of today. (Often allegedly with gaming console & big screen TV… & errr, a very large snack bowl?).
Now don’t shoot me down, but I thought there might be a place for masculine orientated created & crafted ideas & interests?
Me personally I have a large ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’ in my study. So my creations tend to fall into that genre.
Here’s some of our own folksy Kuriology Art Laboratory creations.
Most of us on Folksy are (apart from a few sweary ones) lovely ladeez who prefer to contemplate kittens in baskets than the weird predilections of the male of the species…
Yep, that was sorta my impression too. (Type II Diabetes by saccharin, cuteness & kittens).
But you can only have so many beautifully crafted knitted poodle toilet roll covers!
But a niche market is a niche market…& blokes need blokey ‘gift thing-eys’ too!
(Plus: Kuriology items hit the EcoArt criteria & environmental credentials by being primarily made from recycled materials)
…Surely you do not prejudice against ‘certain’ handcrafted items of interest to some male of the species?
*Ironically most of my sales on another site *elsewhere, - come from women collectors.

A quick view of the Folksy Best Sellers list https://folksy.com/bestsellers, reveals all kinds of things can sell on Folksy. I even made it into the list myself on one occasion (by some fluke!) and I don’t paint pictures of cutesy kittens!

Hmmm, shrunken heads…really might have to give that a go (*In paper mache of course!).
*Although I do have some Kuriology created paper mache & macrame faux Dayak tribal monkey skulls (As previously exhibited at Helston Museum)
An since I brought up knitting, I have seen some truly staggering knitted anatomical body parts for fluffy ‘cabinets of curiosities’ & the most amazing needle felt anatomical skeletons (& they fly like hot cakes out of that ladies shop on a site…Shhhh, *elsewhere)
I started the thread because casting around on the forum I felt the ‘male’ niche seemed a little neglected on folksy…If most of the customers & creators on folksy are as you imply, women, I’m gonna guess at least some will have men folk in their - have to get - ‘gift lists’. …and some of those fellas might even have ‘permission’ to have a Man space!?

the dangle is a bit of fordite (cured car paint from the old spray booths), the guy had been admiring my fordite jewellery for a while but had no use for it so twisted my arm into making him a desk toy. Cufflinks are much easier to post so I’ll stick with listing those and keeping the desk toys for special requests.
Ah, that would be because it was part of my solo exhibition - ‘From Behind Closed Doors’ there in 2017.
I occupied the entire Museum gallery space area with over x250 sculpture exhibits.

It reminds me of a divination tool, like that I’ve seen used by some paranormal ghost hunter investigators.
The item (usually a crystal) would be suspended over a board with letters of alphabet around in a circle, additionally with words ‘yes, no, & maybe’. It is supposed to act a little like an Ouija board.
