Please everyone be aware.
Yesterday I was clearing cookies on my Laptop and decided to clear them all rather than just site specific as a while since I had done a clear up.
It has totally B**** – sorry but that is the only word for it… my Facebook Messenger.. It wants me to enter my pin to restore my message history and then Hangs… and hangs.
My full message history is absolutely fine on my phone. My pin is 100% correct.
It is Messenger which is wrong.
There are multiple reports of problems like mine if you Google and I spent 1/2 an hour with Chatgpt last night trying to sort it but I can’t as there is nothing wrong my end. it is Messenger.
It seems 100% clear that the problem occurs after clearing cookies so whatever you do, if you clear cookies don’t clear your Messenger ones !!!
PS I have spent the last hour chatting to chatgpt and i have tried every single thing suggested to fix the problem I have proved the problem is not with me or with Chrome but with Messenger itself and there is nothing i can now do until MEta fixes it. It has happened before and others are reporting it. So as i said Do not Delete your cookies…
PS I am using a workaround and that is to access Messenger on my laptop via Edge but as i use Chrome for everyting else that is a faff in itself.. and if anyone wants to know the full details of what i just tested via Chatgpt it is in about 20 pages of transcribed chat as a word document.

I cleared all cookies/cache from my phone on every site last week as my phone needs space. Since then I have had issues with messenger and instagram messaging, not on every account just a couple whereby the conversations are only showing those received and not my replies. It’s ok on tablet, my son said he has had the same issue, will ask him if he cleared his as well.
