Can you insert an anchor in a Folksy page

Is there any way in Folksy to return to a part of a Folksy page beneath the main heading

I really don’t understand what you mean or at least why you would want to do that but I think I can confidentally say the answer to your question will be NO,

An anchor is a hyperlink to a specific part on a webpage, rather than just the top part of the page, as in a link to your About You part on your Folksy shop page. You could have some information about ordering a commissioned items from you, instead of putting that in every item description (taking up valuable character count) you could put a link Commissioned info here which would take the customer to the information in About You part of your shop front page.

As we can’t enter code into our shop pages, I would say you can’t do it.

Thanks for this Steve. I suspected it wouldn’t be possible but thought it was worth asking. I am setting up a website and intend to use Folksy for all the commerce stuff so, for example, a link from the website would go to the Folksy page for the relevant product collection. It’s just that the header gets in the way a bit. It’s really me just nit picking so it’s not a major issue.

Have a look at this Chris, I just Googled about anchors,

I’ll do a bit of research into it and get back to you

No, you can’t insert them yourself because we don’t have control over the Folksy generated webpages.

You can however, make use of the labels and links Folksy already use. If you know html you can look at the page source to search for them. For instance, I can link to my Collections like this

https ://folksy.com/shops/HelenCliffordArt#shop-collections

(take out the space)

Obviously you do this entirely at your own risk - if the Folksy developers decide to change their code, your links will break.

Wouldn’t the Folksy widget work for that? New Folksy Shop Widget | Folksy Blog

Edited to add: this is how it looks on my we site: Folksy Listings

I uset the Folksy widget on my own website. I can display clickable thumbnails to every item in my shop on one page. Don’t ask me how I did it though

Use the widget. Check my Joysofglass website, my folksy page. It goes directly to every single listlng in my shop with straight through click to buy.

If I set this to show my whole shop, it works fine and clicking on one of the items in the website takes it straight to the relevant page in the Folksy shop, which is a definite improvement on what I had before. What I was hoping to achieve was a link from my website to a series of collections pages so the website pages only showed the items in the relevant collection, but this doesn’t seem to work. I can get around it by having the website to mirror the collections pages in the Folksy shop, but this is obviously quite a bit of work which is largely duplication.

That’s why you have your own website so you can do what you want with it.
It is rather an unrealistic expectation to expect a shopping platform to cater for every individual wish of everyone of their customers the sellers.
I am just extremely thankful that Folksy did provide us with the Widget which I find provides an exceptional interface direct to my shop listings. I don’t think even the big E does that !

If you are desperate to have it collectioned on your website you can always do it manually.. Set up a box for each listing in a collection and add the links and add the photos and don’t forget to remove it all if you sell one.
Would it not be more useful, to concentrate on promoting your shop so that customers can find them here directty.
Do you have social media ?
You will still be faced once you have your website set up with the task of driving customers there. I can tell you from experience that until, unless you become a really well known name out there, you are far more likely to get visits here to Folksy than to your own website.

Thanks for this Joy. I wasn’t knocking Folksy at all. In fact I think the facilities it offers are excellent and the widget works fine if it’s confined to the things it’s actually designed to do. I guess I’m just one of those starnge people who try to see if any system can be stretched beyond it’s original limits. I’m sure you’re right as well about getting more visits to Folksy than from a website.
