Canada mail strike

Just a heads up for anyone who has not seen the news. The Canada postal strikes are going to be an issue, delays to be expected with deliveries.

You might want to warn your buyers or take off ‘ rest of the world’ deliveries if you can’t afford the risk of possible lost items.

Wouldn’t it be great to be able to pick and choose what countries we deliver to. I’d rather take off Canada for a bit, but don’t want to lose Australia etc.

Last year at Christmas I was selling ‘elsewhere’ when this happened, I took off Canada and ended up with Canadian buyers getting art send to friends over the US border for them to pass to them! …don’t think anything like that will be happening this year, with the state of things between the US and Canada.

I mentioned recently that we should be able to set our own destinations, like you I would sell to Aus etc but not to a lot of the row. Also on another site where you can select postal destinations.

There are quite a lot of destinations from ‘Rest of the World’ I have always sold to Switzerland, Japan lots of places. But don’t really want to switch them all off to avoid losing art in the chaos of the Canada postal strike.

There’s pros and cons to both ways.

On the other side where you can add countries individually it takes so long (the website don’t seem to be able to handle it so it’s super slow) and you have to do it for each individual profile (fine if you only sell one or two different weight items - I have 8 shipping profiles for my needs) and every time the cost of shipping changes you have to change all those individual countries - 8 x over for me.

Yes, there is a lot of effort involved with that. It could be off-putting for some people.
