It’s such a beautiful phenomenon isn’t it Liz @PatchworkPackages. I took that photo from Wentwood about 5 minutes from us which is high above the valley and we live to the right of the photo under the cotton wool!

we often get scenes like that Hilary @kokoblue , but as I am high up, we are usually above it all and in the sunshine x

Remembering the discussion recently about posting to N.Ireland…( Caroline , I notice that your shop says that you do NOT post there). …last week, one of my sales was to Belfast and it worried me, so I went onto the Royal mail website and it wouldn’t accept Northern Ireland as a destination…only the UK…so I just posted it with my regular rate and stamps… (It was a large letter so I weighed it and always check the cost)… Hopefully it arrived safely… Is it safe to post there now?

I do most crafts Brenda, used to have my own kiln and did ceramics. Went on a course with Duncan glazes in Massachusetts. Got where could no longer lift the moulds a so heavy even before you put the slip in them. Painting but not since art A level.
One thing I cannot do is crochet, double duty to me would love to learn, may turn up,on your doorstep one day for a lesson, lol.

Yes Hilary @kokoblue my usual morning walk is up the hill behind us and I often start in the clouds and walk out above them. It never ceases to make me smile and feel alive.

Here is a picture looking down the river to the sea this one is from April

I no longer post to NI due to the new rules that you have to follow as they come under EU laws and it is a fiasco to post there now. Post to the USA still, would do Canva and Australia but that comes everywhere else which includes Europe and do not post there. All very confusing and losing potential revenue streams. To me rest of the world is not Europe but as another seller found out the other week includes Europe.

Love the view Hilary. We get that driving down from Hindhead to Godalming, looks a bit like hobbit land with all the mist as quite high up in Hindhead.

We live at the bottom of a very large hill and on one side there is bungalows all the way up the hill and are mostly occupied by elderly people. It is a very long walk from the top of the hill to the local shops and the elderly really struggle on the way back with their shopping.

So we asked the local council if we could put a bench outside our house, the reply we got was no as you can not obstruct the footpath.

So hubby said ok we will build it into our garden wall which he did. The council came out and inspected the bench and said you cant put it there as people feet will be on the footpath… I rolled my eyes at him and said really are you sure you don’t want to rephrase that. He gave me a strange look and I said well peoples feet touch the footpath when they walk on it. The council man just said oh well its on your property so not much we can do about it.

I can honestly say that bench not only gets used by the elderly on a regular basis, but also by young children when walking to school. They sit on the bench and wait for their parents to catch up before crossing the road. There has even been the odd courting couple using it. I would say it’s the best £50 we ever spent, however it is going to need a repaint come summer.

I have always said it’s the little things that you do in life that have the biggest impact. We have had so much positive feedback from the community, it really makes the effort worthwhile.

Morning all. It’s a lovely day here.
Beautiful knitted scarves Caroline! @Caroleecrafts
What a lovely thoughtful idea Sue @MinpinTowers when my dad came to live with us during covid he would take himself off for long walks. We live in the bottom of a dip, and it is quite a climb to get to the top of the hill, one of the farms at the top had a staddle stone on the road side which he used to perch on to catch his breath, they must of spotted him a few times and ended up putting a garden chair out for him, which he really appreciated. At another spot on the way up the steep hill in to town he would perch on one of the council salt bins and the lady that lived near would bring him out a glass of water. There are very kind folk about.

Sorry the kiln is no more Max :headstone: @MaxPringJewellery

Hello again, Sue @MinpinTowers that is such a wonderful idea, when my back was very bad I couldn’t walk very far without needing a seat! Infact I would often take a collapsible stool with me. I wish our council would put more in our town, like they do everywhere when we’re abroad. Your so thoughtful.

Well, I’ve had a lovely morning out at the local car boot in the sun so I’ve topped up my vitamin D! It helped the hour went back so I didn’t feel rushed to get out of the door. I have really managed to clear our attic of some large items. I’m just a bit sad I didn’t do a second swoop of the attic yesterday as I had so little left by the time I came back.
I don’t think it was a as busy as I’ve seen it in the past, there’s ususlly more cars and more customers. Now I’ve done one on my own I’ll have no hesitation to do another next year. I didn’t get swooped on by dealers when I first arrived as I have in the past, the sort that rummage through the car before you’ve unloaded it.
Goodness me, you do meet some characters though  why oh why when you’ve said 20p do they still try and knock things down futher! Or add another thing for the same price? I did hold out and got what I wanted for the larger items and they all sold!

You’re welcome Cara @FelstedFleece hope to see you back on the thread soon.

Glad you had a successful morning at the car boot Sue @SueTrevor - it’s a nice feeling

Love the bench Sue @MinpinTowers what a thoughtful thing to do.

I don’t think I mentioned the drama of a couple of nights ago. We were just thinking of going to bed at 11.15 the other night and the alert went off on OHs phone that someone was in the driveway at our old house. The camera showed 2 men shining torches all around the front of the house - they were in shorts which was a bit strange. Adrenaline started pumping and we jumped in the car (it’s only 3 miles away). Arrived to find burglar alarm was going off but all secure - the men were neighbours trying to see what was going on. When we got in the house we found a bird in there had set off the alarm. Couldn’t sleep when we got back as my brain was just whizzing around all the scenarios that could have resulted.

Hello all
Well done to those who’ve had sales. Hilary @kokoblue I think I said about that FB page, as I’d had a flurry of sales of my clay gift tags. But since then I’ve had nothing from there.

Glad the boot sale went well, Sue @SueTrevor

The bench is lovely Sue @MinpinTowers such a great idea and I’m sure much appreciated.

That must’ve given you a fright, Mel @aquilacrafts ! Good thing you have cameras etc. At least it wasn’t burglars!

Here’s a Christmas card from me today.
