Earn whilst teaching your skills and hobbies

We have started a new learning website which we are hoping will help to link up people within the same community, encouraging people to learn and teach the various skills that we all have but don’t always teach. The platform allows anyone to post a lesson in anything they like, manage their calendar and complete online payments whilst building an online reputation based on a review system.

Here is a link: www.skillville.io

We are looking for anybody who would be interested in teaching their skills or creating a lesson. We hope it will be a brilliant way for everyone to meet new people whilst earning an income.

It is free to post your lesson and there are no booking fees until 2019 so there’s nothing to lose. You will benefit from the websites advertising on Facebook and Google. The site has just been published online therefore we are initially looking for talented providers who might like to add a lesson.

If you would like any help creating a lesson then sign up, let us know and we can help create the lesson.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch and of course, any feedback you have would be great!

Thanks,

Chris

Hi - very interesting website, but if you don’t mind me saying, I think you would need a bit more information about the tutors.

I wouldn’t book a lesson with someone who is just a first name and an initial for the second for two very important reasons.

First, speaking from personal experience, if it was an artist I’d like to know their credentials and whether they have their own website etc so I could see more of their work and read up about them. I’d want to know they were going to be a good fit for what I wanted to learn and also to make sure they were ‘genuine’.

For example, I wouldn’t expect to pay the same price for an established artist (and with respect I’d want to see proof ie a website with details of past exhibitions etc rather than a statement - eg “I have exhibited my work for x years”) as I would for a keen but gifted amateur. I might choose the gifted amateur, but I would want enough information to enable me to make that choice.

Secondly, before I let anyone in my home or go to theirs, I’d want to know who they were, from a personal safety point of view. A first name only and past reviews wouldn’t be sufficient (reviews can be faked).

It all looks very interesting though so I wish you the best and I would be interested to hear what others think.

Hi Heidi,

Thank you for your valuable feedback.

When a tutor signs up to Skillville they are encouraged to create a profile which includes interests, experience, background and qualifications. You can click on profiles to view these credentials before you elect to conduct a lesson. Some tutors also elect to provide a website to showcase their work or add it as photos in the lesson.

Thank you for your point on just the first name. We will look into this.
