Yay I’ve made my first sale today, I’m so happy. However I don’t have a printer yet need to send a printed receipt, any ways to work around this please?
Congrats on your sale.
Can you enclose a hand written receipt or email the customer the receipt?
Lots of folk don’t include a receipt at all, just a thank you note and business card.
Congratulations Melanie @freesiahandmade that’s great to hear.
Your buyer will have received a confirmation email with their purchase details so I wouldn’t worry about sending a paper copy too.
A lovely handwritten thank you note and business card will be fine.
You could also send them an email letting them know when you’ve posted their parcel and include the order details then.

Well done on your first sale
.. I’ve not had many sales myself but when I do, I get so excited that I always forget the receipt. The first time I sent it on in the post, after that I emailed a copy to the seller… I need a post it note somewhere to remind me when I get my next sale ![]()
Hi,
Congrats on your first sale. I haven’t experienced that yet.
I probably wouldn’t send a receipt unless specifically asked for. I take it that buyers have emails and can contact you if they need to but like others have said a nice note or a little thank you compliment slip is always nice.

Well done on your sale Melanie. You have some beautiful items in your shop, I’m sure lots more sales will come your way soon!
I always include a printed invoice in the parcel. I think the easiest work around for you on this occasion would be to email your customer to let them know when you are posting, and either attach a copy of the receipt or tell them that you can email one to them if they require it. Which ever you feel more comfortable with.
Our printer packed up at the beginning of the week, I was so lost without it, because I always print my postage off too, but new one is up and running now.
Thank you so much everyone for your replies, and lovely comments about my shop, I do have some business cards and thank you cards so I’ll include that
Congratulations
that great news
Thank you so much ![]()

Thank you very much ![]()
It’s a great feeling isn’t it? Well done, you’ll now be on tenter hooks waiting for your review and that’s a great feeling too xx
It certainly is, I’ve just done a packing video ready for socials, yes I hope it will be a good one.
Thank you ![]()
Congratulations, that is great new. I would put in a handwritten receipt in and a little thank you note too. That way the customer gets a receipt and a personal handmade thank you. Hope order #2 soon follows for you.x
It’s totally fine to email, and a hand written note is lovely.
I have always enclosed a printed Folksy receipt as it is an easy way to provide the business contact details and return information that we are legally obliged to give, but I am thinking of switching to email to save paper.
I just need to devise a small compliment slip that tells people to look in their emails though, I am sure most of mine end up in people’s spam!
Yes, I believe you’re correct, sadly even I forget to check my spam. It’d be nice to get a reply so at least I know the customer is aware that I’ve emailed the receipt…
I’ve replied a few times to customer messages asking about items or requesting a custom order, but not heard back. Of course, people don’t always follow-up on enquiries, but I’d hate for customers to think I never replied ![]()
Again yes, I want my customers to know that I haven’t left them high and dry, but there’s not much more you can do if they don’t check spam sadly…
I have considered putting on an “email read receipt”, but that doesn’t work for all email providers, and maybe offputting for customers.
Sorry for going off topic Melanie @freesiahandmade, you’ll find we do a lot of that on here.
My apologies too Melanie. Not always a bad thing as every comment can be helpful to someone , I hope… ![]()
