Keeping paperwork for how long?

Moving house soon and I want to throw out a lot of paperwork relating to my folksy shop, tax records etc
Looked on line and found different timescales

Could anyone advise
thankyou

Having lost my husband last year, I have had to do a big sort out…I went online and it advised keeping papers for up to 7 years…although most people only keep them for 2
hope that helps

If you order you supplies online, most of them have a record of historic orders, so you could print that out if necessary. I know my orders record on Cooksongold goes back at least 5 years and probably more. Keeping the paper is less and less important in this digital age.

My accountant told me to keep 6 years of records…

7 years is the standard (just in case the tax year falls wrong). I box mine up by year, and then dump the whole year in one go.

thank you! I will burn up to 2011 . this house moving is quite stressful!

We have just spent hours shredding today, as when clearing out we had paperwork (all kinds) going back years, some to about 2000. It was very boring, but satisfying.
