Multiple Discount Codes

Does anyone know if discount codes are mutually exclusive. If I have more than one code running in my shop e.g.: one for 20% off and one for 10% off would a customer potentially be able to apply both codes getting 20% off and then getting a further 10% off the reduced price with the second code?

I think you can only use one discount code at a time but I’d like to know the official answer too!

I’d also like to see a ‘one time only’ discount code introduced as well so you can give a specific customer a code to use for one special occasion.
