Hi everyone I started my shop awhile ago BespokeBlankets and more had no real interest what am I doing wrong
I wish I could help you…sometimes these things are a complete mystery. I used to do crochet…spent my life designing knitwear but it is very competitive and you have to try to be a bit different. I paint now but recently started painting cards…Hundreds of card makers out there, so I decided to hand paint mine…not many people do that…so is there a way to make your blankets a bit different?. Lots of people make basic granny square blankets and you need to be different so that you stand out more…good luck x (I am 75, so there is still time )
Get creative with your photography. Might be worth investing in a prop to showcase your blankets on, such as a chair or some people use towel rails or rustic props. People shop with their eyes, so images are really important. Using flat light dampens an image. I use Pinterest a lot to see how people are photographing their products, go take a look at crochet over there and see if you can find some inspiration. I tend to favourite creative, dynamic images. Also, think about joining in more with the forum subjects where you can showcase your work.
Thanks for your reply have a few different blankets on the go
Some great ideas will try to make my photos POP so to speak
Have you any Social Media. It really is the very best way to drive / attract people to your shop rather than just relying on the chance of someone spotting your blankets in a search (and search is not very helpful at present).
With any one of the social media resources you can join you can share your work and get yourself an audience. Then all you need are a few links to your shop on here and Bob’ s my husband
Good luck xx
Thanks have tried different social media which I do get orders on so perhaps it must try harder syndrome
If you have social media why do you not add the links to your shop front ? And if you do have social media have you links on there to your shop here ?
Hi Stella, your blankets are beautiful but I notice that many of your listings do not have measurements on. If they are made to order I think you should have a size for the starting price to give customers an idea.
When I am looking to buy baby gifts for friends I won’t get them anything that can’t be thrown in the washing machine! Since you have no washing instructions or yarn composition details in your listings I would be shopping else where.
That’s so much will update them today x
following on what Sasha has said…it is illegal to sell items without stating the yarn content and the washing instructions (These can be on a separate label but must be included in the sale) If you don’t know the yarn content, it is OK to put “Yarn content unknown”
When I designed made and sold knitwear, I had long discussions with Trading standards and that was the information that they gave me.
Hope that also helps x
Thanks for information will edit items
Hi Stella, also in your tags you don’t have a tag “crochet” or “crocheted blanket” in your description tags and in your tag for materials you have “wool” you can only use this term if it has come from an animal, if it hasn’t you must use the term “yarn”. I think others have commented already on the other things I have picked up so I won’t repeat.
Lovely blankets, hopefully with a few Tweeks you’ll get more views which will lead to sales.
Thanks tweeting later lol
These are gorgeous, maybe a small suggestion to try a different angle at taking the photo so we can see the whole blanket xxx
Just dropping by as a fellow crocheter to say that your blankets are lovely
Thanks so much really appreciate it x
The items are great. Lots of others have made constructive comments and advice but my observation would be that ‘sometimes sales are simply slow’. Try putting in place some of the recommendations and see what happens. Fingers crossed for you and good luck!
