Oopsie daisies section

Hi everyone, do any of you have a section in your shop for items that aren’t perfect enough to sell for your usual full asking price? I’m now doing decoupage and I have a few pieces that went a bit ‘oopsie daisy’ a little bit but could possibly be sold maybe at half the usual price. Is it worth doing do you think?

Hi Altaira, I think it’s a great idea. Folksy have done promotions on seconds in the past, Seconds Sunday, and I think if you’re clear what the issues with the items are then go for it. Good luck with it.

Yep, I have a ‘bargain bin’ where everything’s a fiver, all of the oopsies go in there along with old stock, experiments, prototypes and so on. I think as long as the failings are thoroughly and honestly pointed out it’s fine, and yes definitely worth doing, people love a bargain especially coming up to the festive season!

Thank you ladies, I think I will go ahead and do that then :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Sounds great, I love the idea of calling it an ‘oopsie daisies’ section.

I love the term ‘oopsie daisies’. Folksy tend to have a day each year to promote seconds, samples and experimental pieces at discounted prices - they now refer it it as Perfectly Imperfect. Many of us continue to use this term as a tag in relevant listings - you might want to add it to your oopsie daisies in case customers “in the know” are doing a search

To comply with UK Government’s Code of Practice for Traders on Price Indications on selling at discounted rates, we are advised to state why the item is reduced - in this case a “second” rather than general sale, and clearly describe any flaws or imperfections.

For info, here’s the link to a blog about the event back in Feb. You needed to be a Plus member to take part in the actual event, but any shop can use the tag in general Search.

Hi all, I’m late to the party here  but yes, I have such a section simply because I still want to sell the items despite them being imperfect and hope that the lower price can make someone happy on a budget

Just had somebody come along and purchase a bunch of items all from the Bargain Bin - I love it when that happens! So it’s definitely worth it :slightly_smiling_face:

That’s great, well done! I still haven’t got round to it yet, I keep forgetting, but it’s on my ‘to do’ list.
