Today I made my first beeswax candle, just to try out the new mould. It was a practice one, so I just used some wax that hadn’t been 100% filtered (so no pics of this one!). I’ll leave it a couple of days and then test how it burns. Here’s a photo of some of the new wax from this year’s harvest, hanging out in the showers for a rain-water rinse before I start filtering it. The bees and butterflies are all over it!

I love watercolours and use them on fabrics but have never taken up painting, whilst on holiday last week I bought a couple of watercolour painting books (how to) and a drawing pad.. ..no idea when or if I will do it but as I’ve a lot of paints and watercolour pencils already I’m hoping to give it a go, perhaps over Christmas. My husband is use to me impulse buying on holiday and said ‘you can add it to the piles of other craft stuff that you’ve bought to try one day’ 
I love Origami, my partner tells me that I should have a black belt in Origami 
My mother bought me a Tony Hart Origami book about 40 yrs ago to pass the time in hospital after a serious motorbike accident. I’ve never stopped since, I make private gifts for close friends or just fold for fun and to see if I can do it as some designs are so complex with 100s of folds. It’s all about precision with each fold. When I combat the design I move on to the next one as repetition would take all the fun out of it for me. So besides a studio overspilling with fabric and craft materials, it’s also overspilling with paper because if I see paper that speaks to me I can’t resist it as I know one day it will be turned into something special for somebody extra special and deserving 
That sounds lovely. I play clarinet as my hobby in two community bands.
My fave hobby is upholstery. Love making something bright and beautiful. I have sold a few as well as keeping some at home or making for friends. Shipping chairs is a challenge so trying something little easier to make and pack these days and posting on Folksy, Pic of a chair I upholstered for friends….a beauty I think

Such a shame that posting things like this is a bit of a nightmare… You might want to consider upholstered cat beds if you want to branch out into something more shippable that uses your talents? I bet they would sell great, especially if you could do removeable washable covers.
So far I’ve managed to upholster a dressing table stool but I have 4 dining chairs that badly need doing - I haven’t yet managed to get up the confidence to give it a try!

There are some sellers on Folksy that make furniture and there’s one I’ve seen who makes chairs, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind if yoù contacted them and asked how they ship or who they use to ship their items.
Hi. Cat beds, nice idea, thank you. You should definitely try dining chairs, if they are the ones where the seat pops out, it’s a nice easy job, just need a hand stapler or hammer and tacks. Careful….you could get hooked! So many beautiful fabrics around, you could get remnants as the chairs don’t even need to match. Good luck.
Hi. Good idea, thank you. We are in the process of moving home, hopefully, so small projects only at the moment. I’ll get back into the bigger things later in the year.
The great thing about cats is that they’re mostly roughly the same size!
My dining chairs are the drop in seats and I’ve bought some lovely velvet upholstery fabric, which was very cheap. My problem is that they’re quite old, stuffed with horse hair and all that needs replacing as well as the webbing, scrim etc. I found some great YouTube videos and really must get on with it!
You can wash the horsehair and reuse. Mild shampoo will do it, fun to try. Modern foam is easier of course.
