I’ve just received my first orders this week (2 in one day, Yay!) and am in the process of posting them out. I’ve found it strange that in order to see the postage address I have to click on each individual order (rather than it being displayed on the main order page) and that I can’t just copy and paste the details due to the name and address being shown separately. This makes printing the address labels a much more long winded process than when I process orders through the other online sites that I sell through.

Am I doing something wrong / looking in the wrong place or is this how it always is (and if so is there anyway to suggest improvements to Folksy).

Thanks
Paula x

If you look at the bottom of each order Paula @HeartandDesign you will see the address printed along the bottom line.
Although it doesn’t show the full name.
I always click on the order details anyway in order to print out the receipt for my records.

I have to confess I write mine out by hand, so never had a problem with it. Could you copy/paste from the paypal receipt instead? Or the Folksy payment e-mail - I think that shows it in one block.

I use the PayPal postage system so never really look at the folksy order page. That could be one way round it for you.

The only problem is that without the name I still have to click on the order to get the full address. It wouldn’t be a problem but when I’m working in my studio (where my label printer is) I’ve very intermittent internet access so it makes it a real pain trying to change web pages. It’s probably me being fussy lol - I’ll figure out a workaround.

Hadn’t thought of the Paypal email - that might be a solution, thanks 🙂

Thanks lizdyson , hadn’t thought of logging in to Paypal - I’ll try that next time 😄

I always use paypal address as I believe if the two addresses are different you are only covered by paypal protection if you use the address listed there. Sometimes people forget to change addresses when they move etc. At least if you see different addresses then you can query it.

I always check the emails - the 2nd one from Folksy which has the address and the Paypal one - as I quite frequently find they are not the same -
and then I spot a note - which may be in either of the emails, from the customer, asking me to send it to a different address.
Not been caught out yet but it is a good idea to check both emails and the address can be copy/ pasted from either all in one go - and I do !

If you send it to a different address than what’s on paypal you will no longer be covered by paypals seller protection.

You’re only covered if you send it signed-for or tracked anyway, so not much use most of the time.

I do all of mine through paypal as orders from my other sites come in there too. You can use ‘download history’ to download all your orders since the last time you downloaded them, which it then opens in a spreadsheet, and I have a Word document setup for Avery labels which mail merges all the names and addresses for me. I usually give it a quick glance over to make sure it’s correct, then print and stick 😄

The other good reason for doing it through Paypal is that occasionally there is a different address on the customers paypal account, and as this is where the actual money has come from, that’s the right address to use.

Thanks for all the suggestions - I’ll try to get in the habit of checking the paypal details for the address.

I vary rarely get paid via Paypal on the other site I sell through and frequently get asked to send them directly to the recipient a lot of the time (my products are mainly bought as gifts) - fingers crossed, this has never caused any problems so I’m not overly concerned about addresses matching up (I’m probably waaay too trusting lol but so far 400+ orders and no issues)

But if I send it to the Paypal address and the customer has asked me to send it somewhere else then I can pretty well guarantee I won’t be covered by a Customer Satisfaction guarantee and that is more important to me - especially as I have never to date had any occasion to call on the Paypal guarantee.

You can simply ask your customer to add the address to their paypal account.

I’ve cancelled sales on ebay where someone has said they’d forgotten to update their paypal account and could I send the item to another address.

When asked to add their new address they refuse so I have cancel and refund. I’m not getting caught out by that old ebay scam. As they’ll end up with the item plus a refund by paypal for not sending the item to the correct address.
