Subscription options?

Hi all,

This may be a long shot, but I am looking to start a monthly print club, which would involve people to sign up to pay a monthly subscription. Is there any way to accommodate this on our folksy shops? I’m not confident there is, but my only current selling platform is folksy so I want to see what im working with. Thanks in advance! Frances

Hi Frances. I am not entitely sure what it is you are proposing. Folksy is for selling handmade items. There are workshops that are sold on here too, where people can buy a place for a workshop on a specific day at a specific place where the workshop is about handmaking something.
What sort of “printing” are you talking about? And what would people be getting for their money?

I see you sell prints of your watercolours (as do I), so I’m assuming you’re trying to offer a facility where customers can receive regular prints at a discount via a subscription? That might be a big assumption, but I’m intrigued!
As a subscription is a recurring payment, I’m not quite sure how Folksy would accommodate it, unless you email the payment link every month to subscribers so they can make the payment (but that might defeat the object).
I think Paypal has a facility where you can set up recurring, automated billing. Perhaps that could be managed via a newsletter or social media?

Folksy isn’t set up for taking reoccuring payments so you couldn’t have people paying month by month. However you could do listings where people buy eg a 6 month or 12 month package and pay as a single lump sum. You would need to be very specific in the listing as to what people would receive each month and when it would ship or you might have issues with the payment providers. A subscription might be better suited to a platform like patreon which is set up for that sort of thing.

Yes exactly! Id plan to do a brand new painting (of my local area) each month with stickers, bookmark and handwritten letter etc, at a discount. Thanks for letting me know about paypal, it may be that I organise it separate to folksy, like as you said, as separate newsletter

Thanks, Sasha  :+1:
