September is on the horizon (can you believe it?!)
As summer starts to fade and we fall back into routines, we’re getting September’s Themes of the Day ready, so you can plan your content, makes and marketing ahead of time.
Think cosy season, changing leaves, back-to-school, harvests, fresh starts, autumnal crafts… and whatever else September inspires!
So, what themes would you love to see in September’s calendar?
Once we have some lovely suggestions we’ll work hard to turn around the final list for you as quickly as possible.
Googling suggests ( amongst others):
1st - World letter writing Day
5th - World Beard Day
Also 5th - International Day of Charity
7th National Beer lovers Day
8th International literacy day
Also 8th Star Trek Day
9th National Teddy Bear Day
21st International Day of peace
27th World tourism day
29th World heart day
However I’d rather see some really specific themes where it is very clear what specific items are relevant . For example:
Peacocks
Patchwork
Brown bags
Home decor in blue (or any specific colour scheme)
Kitchen accessory
Peg bags
Or for more broad themes:
Gift for teenage girl
Engagement gift
Autumn chill
Golden wedding
Starting Uni / college
Though these tend to produce pages and pages of items.
9th is National Teddy Bear day - teddy bear Stationery, notebooks

I have a suggestion -
If we just had the one header or tag it would avoid confusion, not sure some sellers know which to follow sometimes, instead of ‘Wedding’ as the desciption for example then ‘wedding cards’ as the tag just have the one heading of ‘Wedding Cards’.
Having a tag without the description first would avoid confusion and stop sellers tagging inappropriately whether by mistake or in an attempt to tag anything remotely connected just to get into the TOTD which some sellers do.
I think the tags need to be more specific sometimes.,
I’m nodding in agreement with Debby @Bearlescent about having the description/name and tag match. As a few examples, Tuesday 25th August has description/name as ‘Wedding Guest Accessories’ but then the tag to be used is ‘clutch bag’. Are sellers to use the tag given on all the relevant accessories they have or just on clutch bags they may sell? Another is Sunday 30th August which has the description/name as ‘To The Ocean’ but then the tag as ‘lighthouse’ so should all things ocean related be tagged or just specifically lighthouses?
I quite often look at the description and have items I could add but then when looking at the tag it doesn’t match so I end up not tagging them.

I’m the same with that one Sarah, I’ve a few that I could relist and include that are ocean/sea themed but are definitely not lighthouse themed. So having the tag as lighthouse rules me out too.

It would be better if it were just “clutch bags”. Having wedding accessories as a title will mean it will be inundated with pages and pages of all sorts of jewellery. Yes, all could be a wedding accessory. And I have nothing against jewellery having a turn on TOTD! But, as has been commented on before, it is something that can be said to fit many a theme. Hence, so much better to have a specific theme, in this instance Clutch bags. Then at some point have more specific jewellery related themes, such as Blue earrings, or gold bracelets, for example. That would avoid many themes being dominated by all sorts jewellery, lovely as it is.
Edited: having said all that, I have just looked through todays TOTD, which is photography. Just one necklace and one headscarf, otherwise pages of the most beautiful photographs!
