I is for incised. This banded ceramic piece is from my Seeds and Rain collection which features incised decorative motifs of sprouting seeds and falling rain - a technique known as sgraffito. I use a sharp point to cut through a layer of colour into the black clay beneath. I’ve had lots of practice observing falling rain over the last few weeks!
