TRULYJULIES
As a young child I would spend hours transforming cardboard boxes into unique and wonderful creations.
When I was 8 years old a neighbour taught me how to crochet. At 10 I learnt to knit at school, I loved making little gifts for my friends. At 15 I corresponded with Pat Cooke a famous artist, who I greatly admired, often sending her my own paintings which imitated her style. I remembered sending her pictures of a life-sized mural of Pat Cooke Characters which I painted on the youth club wall.
Years went by and I would always have some project on the go, whether it was knitting, crocheting, drawing or painting.
For my 18th birthday my parents gave me a “New Home” sewing machine. Wow, there was no stopping me. I have made thousands of items, from curtains to costumes for childrens’ Christmas plays.
More recently, I have enjoyed creating a 7 x 4 foot tapestry which now hangs in the hall at the school I work at.
I am almost 54 now, and still on the go! My “New Home” sewing machine never has chance to cool down, I do not know what I would do without it.
Who’d have thought we’d be selling our own creations on the internet all those years ago, when I had my cardboard boxes.
NEWS FLASH… I HAVE A NEW, COMPUTERISED BROTHER SEWING MACHINE, WOOOSH, IT GOES VERY FAST!! LOVE IT.
