Hi, I qualified with my ceramics degree 30 years ago. After graduating I went to live in North Carolina in the states, where I taught pottery to children.
On my return I did a business course with the Prince’s Trust who then gave me a grant to set up my studio. I was self employed potter for 5 years, but I then applied for a job in a large gallery near me called Make Southwest, and I got the job as the manager. I was still making my own work but this got harder every year. I was there for 12 years and loved every minute of it. After this I went to work in a vets where I still work 1 day a week now.
I only managed to get my new studio a few years ago as I live in a grade 2 listed thatched cottage and my studio is also listed!!
I absolutely love my life at the moment. I sell my work in 3 galleries and sell wholesale to 7 shops. I also teach throwing weekly. Have an online presence has been something I have been meaning to do for ages, so I’m so glad I finally sorted it all out.
