I have just finished a commission to paint some tiny butterflies to go into a kitchen of a barn convention … Miniature style !!!

I love butterflies and they occasionally appear in my paintings so I thought maybe other people like butterflies too so why not let’s show all our butterfly items for ithers to see …

Mine are painted in encaustic hot wax paints and have a great depth of colour and a lovely sheen. https://folksy.com/shops/HazelRayfield

The larger one comes mounted in the double mount A4 in size the other is a ACEO and would so pretty displayed on an easel like this.

I have a love hate relationship with butterflies - I love them but I’m less sure of caterpillars as they tend to eat my veg at the allotment (but are weirdly beautiful). Not quite a butterfly but I have just finished this commission of a dragonfly. This one has got green apatite beads in the body but could be made in other colours.

I love butterflies, especially the native blue ones like the Chalkhill Blue. The colours approximate to the ones found in these apatite stones.

I’ve got loads of butterflies. There’s some on this Vintage Fabric Effect House Number, but I’ve got them on bird baths, and I’ve just finished a garden ball covered in them too :smile:

Butterflies are a favourite subject with me. They lend themselves to all manner of decorative extravagance - brilliant colours and flamboyant scrolling designs. here is just one example -


Unfortunately my elder daughter is terrified of them in any manifestation so I have to be very careful to keep them hidden when she is about.

I include butterflies a lot in my pieces.

Here is a mixed media painting. Old book pages and recycled papers have been collaged, drawn on and painted over. Then layers are gradually built up over several days (including paints, inks and oil pastels).

Love the beautiful items that have been posted by everyone.
