Should I give up?

Hi @WalrusCeramics me too to be honest.. I’d happily stay here if things were to improve.. I don’t mind promoting myself but there is a limit to what you can do!

Another one here who was so pleased to see a potential refreshing change from E’y, but as soon as I started putting things on here instead, I got two sales on E, then 2 sales here, so have kept both going. But now both are dead, no sales on either for months.

Folksy is very much aware.

I would like to be brutally frank, but that’s likely to get me in hot water.

So I’ll temper my words and just say that I disagree that an increase in fees would resolve the myriad of issues with this site, and that money isn’t the cause or the solution to the real problem.

There are definitely a few issues at the minute.

I’m waiting for this and a similar topic to be closed as always happens if we ( justifiably) voice too much dissatisfaction :rofl:!

I have cancelled my folksy plus account sadly, I have had to start uploading on the other sales platform, not sure are we allowed say it here, so I won’t (but everyone knows the other platform) When I say to people about Folksy, they haven’t a clue sadly who I’m talking about

Hiya , lovely items, great photos !

OK saleswise why so slow ?:

  • Post Xmas lull is often a thing , less so in Jan, often more siginificant in Feb/March when credit card bills hit
  • Easter is coming people are saving for hols
  • The weather is AMAZING people are out doing stuff not browsing
  • It has literally fallen off a cliff everywhere since the USA tariffs, uncertainty means a bit of caution amongst buyers right now , I had one of my busiest Month across all my outlets in Feb, it was ok in Match ( I was on holiday) and now …crickets. We can’t do anything about that BUT we can emphasis how great is to be part of a UK market place supporting the UK craft industry ( positives only, no politics req )

So I wouldn’t do anything rash right now, It IS a good opportunity to do refresh listings, take photos. That’s what I am doing right now

I had a good look around and I found you and you social media quite easily so that’s great , ! would suggest a bit more variety in your posts perhaps, typically its good to mix in some other pics etc that are non business related to broaden engagement.. Mine has as many pics etc of food/scenery/my dog as it does of ’ selling’ post. That might be a good thing to think about whilst it’s quiet.

I brought this matter up ages ago and nobody seemed to agree with me. I’d be quite happy paying more but I’d want my money’s worth and a complete overhaul. We need a video facility on here desperately, along with dedicated advertising and a buyer app.

I thought by supporting Folksy by becoming a plus member they might eventually have enough to put all those things in place. But no. 17 years of what? Still nobody knows who they are.

I don’t blame you. Mine will be ending in May and I’m not renewing. There’s no point and no benefit to it. It’s all very well having access to podcasts and how to’s but that’s is rendered pretty useless when there’s no conversion to sales. I do ok on my own websites and etsy so there has to be something seriously wrong on here.
