Happy new year - thought I would start a new thread to showcase all that lovely textile art on Folksy. Post your favourites here - artworks for the wall or freestanding sculptures, textile art gives a lovely three dimensional quality and warmth!
Here’s an unframed textile artwork from me - I created the rose from silk, and embroidered the bee using freestyle machinery techniques - all by ‘hand’ no preprogrammed patterns involved!
I’m not sure if I will pop this into my shop as it will cost a fortune to post … Thoughts?
It’s a wool felting of Highland stag. Or keep for Craft Fair? Would be £80 at Fairs but not sure of postage but as my last small heirloom bear was £5.35 I’m nervous.
Definitely list it - it looks lovely - I have sold a few artworks at this price range, so people do spend that online - they previously cost about £15 to post, I charged (from memory) about 6.95 or poss 9.95 (I have played around with postage costs so can’t really remember) and absorbed the rest from the artwork sale price.
Thank you so much for the support. I will now check the postage and add on. Happy New Year and here’s to a great year of sales and chats amongst us all.
Just listed these four mounted unframed pieces. I have had these up for sale in the past, but framed in oak. Have now decided to ‘unframe’ most of my existing pictures so that it makes them 1) more affordable 2) people can choose their own frames in their own time and 3) easier/ safer to post!
They were the very first artworks I ever made, as part of my ‘Treasures of the Ocean’ collection. Been hidden in a box for about 6/7 years, not seen a show since about 10 years ago!!
These are gorgeous! I have been contemplating some framed textile art but maybe just mounting them may be better for postage?
I tend to make smaller pieces on cards but would like to try some larger pieces as well?
Thank you! Yes why not make some larger pieces - whether to offer framed or unframed has been a constant debate over the years but I’ve decided now to offer them all unframed. It’ll take me a while to fit in the listings but I’ll get there! Saves a lot of space too . I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
