Arthritic dog

Great tips thanks Rachael. It’s only the sling one I think we’ll have to give a miss. Mr hbyh can lift him, but I don’t stand a chance. Went to Holland and Barratt yesterday - treatment starts Tuesday when we collect him from kennels

He loves swimming - the breed has webbed toes - so that could be a good idea to keep him entertained!

Keeping fingers crossed for a solution @heartanddesign. It seems so unfair so young doesn’t it. And yet we have a rescue mongrel who is about 13 maybe and still acts like he’s 3!

Awwwwww. Looks like a windswept day. Loving those ears @FireHorseTextiles

Awwwwww, sweet anakin. Love that expression

I have Malamutes, I give my dogs Yumove from lintbells its brilliant, my older girl who is now 13 has been on it for some time and its done wonders for her, short regular walks, on lead several times a day is best, as you do not want to allow the muscles to atrophy because of lack of use. your dog will need the muscles strong as they help support the joints, good luck and I hope this helps.

Sika says thanks for all the well wishes! Just collected him from kennels - the drugs and being confined to kennels for a few days seems to have done him the world of good. Now to keep him calm and get him used to ‘walks’ rather than ‘bird/squirrel/anything that moves, hunting expeditions’

he looks super happy to have his humans back! so good luck keeping him quiet…

much great advice on here - i think just try and do as much preventative stuff now and it’ll pay off in later years. x

Much as I’d like to think he’s super happy to see me, I’m not sure I have much to do with it. Have you ever seen a dog stare for two days at a lawn, before finally digging a hole to try and catch a mole. Two days…just staring at grass…and wagging his tail. He’s not right!!! But then he did get the mole - so he now thinks that he gets a nice reward if he stares at grass for long periods of time.
But yes, you’re right @fionaT, all really helpful advice. Thanks everyone!
