Morning everyone. It’s so nice to be back, although it’s so long since I did this that I can’t remember exactly how to post things up. So please bear with me whilst I get to grips with the way this works. I do remember the bit about visiting everyone’s shops and 
ing the items however, so shall be off to do that as soon as I have worked out the intricacies of getting a picture up here. Thank you Sue (@SueTrevor) for doing this.

It’s lovely to be here again after a long absence. It will seem strange without Natalie @NOfkantsCurios.
I wasn’t going to join in until the 12th as I’ll be away, but I’ve got a couple of days to kill, so why not?
I note that @SueTrevor was speculating on the invitation thread that I may end up on the naughty step. But I am a reformed character these days I assure you 
I have some larger paintings to post, but I’ll leave them until I come back (mainly because I discovered I have insufficient packaging to mail them should they sell quickly…you never know, it can happen 
)

I have to come up with a subject over the summer, but I’ve been doing work experience with a community arts project which I’ve enjoyed very much. They provide art workshops, including socially prescribed ones to assist with mental health problems. I’ve become quite interested in the relationship between art and health, so may possibly do something along those lines.
I think it’s 6000 words or thereabouts!
It has been very enjoyable and challenging. I’m starting to think I’ll be glad to get back to the real world again when it’s over!

Welcome back Chris…you know that there is a permanent space on the naughty step…and always cream cakes and copious cups of tea and coffee…odd that the naughty step has been a bit empty while you took time off…???
How can artist’s write dissertations?..not even sure what such a posh word means or involves…I am an artist…end of…lol (I am a rebel and have taught arts and crafts etc for local authorities and never any training…sssh ) will you go back to cabbing?..
School of life for me…when I was teaching the local authority wanted me to go away on training courses but I always told them that I was too busy…I never went and continued to teach for years…lol…

I agree Brenda, I think the art world is a bit “over academicalised”. I think I’d really like to write a dissertation asking “why is the art establishment so up itself?”
Having said that, it can provide opportunities you may not get otherwise. The work experience I did running workshops offers a good chance of developing into paid work in future. Hopefully I won’t be going back to cabbing. I have had a couple of opportunities to exhibit, but the commission charged by commercial galleries feels quite prohibitive to all but the most successful artists who can command the highest prices. I think I’d rather sell on Folksy and keep more of the money!
