Hi all, it’s been a while since I have done any serious Silver work so surprised when I checked my registration and found it has nearly three years to run so I downloaded a current price list. But due to the brain fog left behind by covid I am not sure I understand it so could any of you please throw me a bone and tell me how much it would roughly cost to hallmark a packet of say ten Silver items ,pendants, rings etc I need to put enough aside to cover the costs. Should you choose to answer, thanks in advance.
Cost does vary slightly depending on which assay office you use. So two lots of special delivery postage is about £15, LAO has a packet charge of £19 + £12 (£1.20 per item x 10 items) so total is approx £46. Assuming you don’t want any of the extra marks or speedier service.
Thanks, LAO is where I am at and want traditional stamped marks, £19+1.20 is what I read but with the covid left overs wasn’t sure I had got it right.
You are still managing to find fordite I see, must be getting scarce now.
LAO has been a bit variable of late with their turnaround times - the staff keep being affected by train/ tube strikes and can’t get into work. Something to keep in mind if you need something hallmarking in a hurry.
It’s actually become a bit easier to get hold of fordite recently - what counts as a large amount of fordite came out of the Kenworth truck factory in 2018 which made the people at the Jeep factory realise that there was a market for the fordite that they were producing and that has been coming onto the market steadily since about 2020. I’ve got several kg of each in a box at my feet. The older stuff has gotten harder to find and gone up in price (I used to get rough corvette fordite for 40 cents a gram, now it’s about $2 a gram if you can find it).
You have a little niche with fordite so I am glad you can still get it. I had to move and leave behind a lot of my stone cutting gear but not really a great loss as I cannot get adequate recompense for the time it takes.
