I know what you mean, despite a career as a computer programmer I’m a slow adopter of anything new, I still mourn for the days when all computer instructions were typed, none of this point and click stuff.
As far as my online selling is concerned, that only really took off then I got my own laptop so I could sit and work on my shops in the evenings without kicking the kids off the pc. I still haven’t really got my head round tablets but I do have a smartphone bought specifically so I could get a card reader for fairs and I wouldn’t be without it - if you do face-to-face selling I think that’s what I’d recommend - although it’s 2 things really, you can’t have a (reasonably priced) card reader without getting a smartphone to go with it.
What does it say about me that a) I jumped out of my skin when my mobile rang and b) it took my a while to figure out that it was my mobile that made the funny noise which had just startled me…
Sometimes I feel like I am married to my laptop not my husband as lately I have been spending A LOT of time on it, what with designing two new websites and promoting them, revamping my 6 year old website and facebook and I had to re-start my folksy shop to change the name (before they changed it so you didn’t have to start again - apparently!) and changing all my photos and setting up a dark side shop.
I’m actually having a day off tomorrow and I’m going to start attacking the veg plot and shrub borders!
I do have a smart phone, originally bought to go with my paypal card reader that I use at events, but after being someone who only text and made calls on a phone, even that is getting more use, especially for the internet when out and about.
However if I didn’t run an online business. I would love to have non of it!
Hi, I’m with you, I don’t have a smart phone, and I spend far too much time on my desktop.
I do have a tablet I bought last year, with the Amazon Kindle App, so that I can read books
when I have spare time, or when I’m staying with my children. My actual book stash is nearly
catching up with my knitting yarn and fabric stash!!! I must get rid of the reading books, not
the craft ones though.
I do everything on my desktop, as I find it easier. I have difficulty seeing things on the internet
on my phone.
When I’m walking down the road in the spring sunshine, looking at the sky, the birds, the trees…everyone I pass seems to have their noses down looking at their phones. Here’s one person who’s glad to be a dinosaur!..
Hi Christine, another sky/bird/tree watcher here! Even at the Doctors, people are glued to their phones. I like to take out my very ancient mobile, and see their looks of dismay! (in fact my phone is so ancient it’s now almost collectable!) Get this, I only use it for emergency phone calls!
It’s possible to do both I love watching birds and wildlife and when I’m doing that my phone is firmly in my pocket, when I go out for dinner with family and friends I don’t feel the need to be on my phone giving the world a step by step account of my evening, but … I still couldn’t live without my tech
Here’s a photo of a cheeky deer I took a couple of weeks ago whilst out walking to make everyone smile lol
