May Queens Daily Listing Challenge Club! 26th to 31st of May!

Your needle felting is amazing Roz!

Morning all, lovely things again. It’s interesting that you all seem to be able to see my trolley when I can’t. I’ve emailed support that vital piece of information and we’ll see what becomes of it.

A couple of relists today - headpins (boring) and a little purple brooch

PS, I’m bowled over by your needle felted portrait, Roz, @Rozcraftz

Wet morning here in Cheshire too !!! shame especially as looking after friend’s westie dog for the day.

Roz love your spaniel. We have had to springers, one Welsh and one English, gorgous pets:=)))

Here is mine for today

Carol xx

Oh Shirley! All I was trying to do was cover the dummy layers. It sounds so easy, but the polystyrene ‘bit into’ to icing so when I tried to re-adjust the rolled out icing ever so slightly, the icing sheet ripped where it had been in contact with the edge of the dummy cake. As I had already spread the dummy with butter cream to secure the icing, it means I can not take it off and re-roll for a perfect finish. On top of that my two year old chose last night to be a total pain and wake up every five minutes screaming, demanding stories and songs etc. Hubby was out for the night to top it off, so no help available. I will have a look at my efforts in a moment with a fresh head - not the stressed ‘almost-midnight-and-still-working-head’ that I had on last night (makes me sound like wurzel gummage!) I thought I would cover the iced dummies with clingfilm so they wouldn’t dry out, with the thought that I could attempt to smooth the icing a little more today if it is still pliable. Typically, my smoothing tool is packed away in a box in the loft. Nothing like being prepared, is there?

Sorry Shirley for the rant - feel a little better now. Thank you. Any tips for covering up any little errors or fixing tears neatly?

Thanks all for your lovely comments on my spaniel picture. That is one i did of my springer Max as an example. I really love doing these portraits especially when I add the eyes, it always seems to add such character.

Oh no! @JellyGiraffe Julie I am so sorry you are leaving!
You were the first person to ever speak to me on Folksy when I was a very green newcomer.
You sent me a message saying not to list all at once but to spread it out over a few days.
Sorry you have not been selling anything. :frowning:

Hiya,
Hope everyone is ok,

Just been over on FB to promote a few folksy sellers, which I haven’t done for a while.
@JellyGiraffe…ah Julie I’m so sorry to hear you are leaving folksy, sales are very disheartening at mo! Your jewellery is lovely and very unique, are you still going to make, and sell elsewhere ? Whatever you do I wish you all the very best, you and your work deserve it

Haven’t read through properly as I’m chasing my tail again…just for a change!!

Just relisted these gift tags today

I’ll pop back later to do all promoting and reading, Steph xx

Jacqueline @JAustenJewelleryDesign
Sorry your PC is playing up.
This is what I sent in the message
Jacqueline it sounds like you have straight edge dummies which are not really for sugarpaste icing.
They are for royal icing.
You need the chamfered edge ones, they have a rounded edge so that it doesn’t cut into the icing.
Do some googling - there are quite a few You Tube videos and other tutorials out there.

However I don’t suppose you will be able to view YouTube videos if your pc is playing up.

Tears in the sugarpaste can be disguised with piping, little flowers, some nice lace.

For tiny tears or holes - you can pipe little forget-me-not flowers in the same colour as the main icing.
You can use your hands for smoothing and polishing. Dust them very lightly with cornflour first.
Don’t dust your hands with icing sugar as it will make the sugarpaste go sticky.

Thank you so much for telling me Shirley. I have never used dummies before, only ever cake (can’t have too much cake!) The groom bought the dummies. Mind you, I wouldn’t have known they were the wrong type for the icing he wants. I will do a bit of re-jigging and playing about. It doesn’t look too bad actually, now I look again in daylight. I will play about with icing etc and the butterflies. He wants them in a swathe, flying up the cake. I could put them over the icing that tore. I might colour some of the icing and cut out flowers to disguise any other bits here or there.

Thank you so much for all your help. Sorry to have taken up so much of your time with this and for taking up so much room on the thread. Who knew cakes could be so stressful? Unless I have a complete melt down, the next you will hear about this cake will be once I have finished it and have pictures of the end result.

@JAustenJewelleryDesign You are welcome Jacqueline, glad to be of some help.

I thought you all might like to have a look at my reply on the The Smorgosbord thread.
I really felt like I needed to stick up for all of us that take part in this thread.
My post is 188 and take a look at the few posts before my latest one to see what it is all about.

I have responded to your message on that thread too - and been a bit tardy about some of the things that have been said throughout the thread. Backing you and the listing club all the way!

Hi all, been through and clicked and hearted all the lovelies to here, wonderful yet again everyone xx

Jacqueline, hope you get that cake sorted, Shirley is a star!!!

Maureen, I have one of those fat cats too, he never shows any interest in the birds, thankfully, our neighbours cat Ron Weasley (yes you heard me right and yes he is ginger lol) is the complete opposite, his mum has to close him in the outside shed when the blackbird babies fly the nest!

Ooooh is there controversy about the listing club??? Must have a nose! Good for you Shirley!

Julie, ah hun I’m so sorry you are closing up, I will miss seeing your lovelies pendants, I hope youre not closing up completely, permanently??? Would be such a shame!

I was going to comment myself but was a wimp and thought I had probably said enough already but I will probably try and add something to it! I don’t see why we can’t be rewarded for the hard work, time and effort that we put in to promoting our own and others shops. Off now to see if I can be brave!
