Sarah @PhotoFairytales someone earlier posted on facebook, that E has for the time being STOPPED all postings from the UK to the US…so it looks like that will be the case until something is sorted out.
Not exactly… They are suspending the sale of their own shipping labels with any carrier who doesn’t yet have a duty paid postage option available (so the likes of Royal Mail and Evri). They can’t stop anyone from buying their own postage from those carriers and sending packages - but they certainly aren’t recommending it ![]()
I suspect we’ll just have to add it to our shipping cost, which of course we can’t do until we have carriers ready to provide duty paid postage (I’m sure RM will be doing this on Click & Drop / at the post office before the deadline date). Hopefully though Folksy will be adding some useful messaging to the platform for US customers.
I’ve just been plugging the details of my last shipment to USA into Transglobal express cost calculator. They have the option of either using their point to point courier services (which was working out at ~£45 for my package) or their hand it over to USPS service (~£20 total including collection fee within the UK and increased insurance, they deal with the customs stuff, fly it over and then hand it to USPS to do the final leg). We will be able to pay them the duty and they will do the rest for us (admin fee is apparently only 30p).
So…. If folksy can sort out something on the shopping cart/ check out side of things to calculate and charge the duty then I think Transglobal express would be an acceptable alternative to RM for getting shipments to USA. I’d need to put up my shipping cost from £15 to £25 but for my jewellery that’s no too bad (I’ve had USA customers pay more than that for courier services).
Looks like royal mail are going to suspend some services to USA until they have systems in place for us to pay the duty.
Anyone know how to remove USA shipping from listings? I’ve gone into Bulk Edit Listings, and clicked on Set Postage Costs - but not sure if I’m in the right place or what to do from there! Completely forgotten how to do this! ![]()
Go to bulk edit listings, click the little tick box next to the ones you want to revise (you will have to reinput UK shipping so do it in batches with the same UK shipping), click set postage and you should get a pop up where you can enter the new shipping (re enter UK values and leave USA blank to remove it) and then hit the green save button at the bottom.
Ha, thanks so much Sasha! ![]()
That does seem very doable. My only concern is about how to get the packages to them…
They do a collection service if you are not near one of their hubs, some one will come and get it from you.
Royal Mail and DHL have apparently now confirmed that they are suspending affected services from next Tuesday until they have a solution in place, which will apparently be within a few days: Royal Mail and DHL halt some US deliveries over tariffs - BBC News
I think the best option for now might be to remove US from shipping temporarily, but it’s a pain having to change every listing even with the bulk edit listing, it would be much easier if it was set up so that we could just remove it without having to put all the postage charges back in especially when the list brings up all the hidden and sold items that havn’t expired yet.
Does anyone know yet when we might hear something about it from Folksy? I don’t want to mess about with postage if we don’t need to however if an order comes through it will have to be cancelled which is not good for business.
Debbie, you can click on ‘for sale’ on your items at the top of the bulk editing page. Then just tick the ones you want to change in the square box by the item. I have about 3 - 4 different postage costs and it didn’t take me very long.
Oh thank you Sue, I never knew that, it will make it much quicker x
They said within a few days a day ago… I’ve decided to leave my US shipping in place everywhere for now and if anyone places an order, I’ll message them to explain there will be a delay as no shipping available at the moment and if they want to cancel the order, they can. That way I figure that I can still interact with customers about specific things they want to order and I don’t have to reset my shipping twice, which even with bulk edit is a slow process as you can’t order the list so that you can easily do chunks of the same shipping together. Going up and down that list looking for the ones you want to tick makes my eyes go squiffy! ![]()
That’s a good idea Debbie, i will hang on until I hear from Folksy, bulk editing should be a much quicker process now Sue has told me about being able to select those curently for sale only but yes we still have to go up and down the list to find the different rates.
Tomorrow there is a live webinar at 10am with GTD and Royal Mail giving information on how the tarrif collection will work , you need to register to listen. Here is the link to the GTD website, just scroll down to see the webinar link.

Interesting Australia post will cease sending to the USA due to the tariffs. Wonder who else will follow suit.
