Joy, you’re there in the Favourites.
Have a little peek now, Joy.
I’ve also gone through to clean out some of the older favourites @sweetpyroangel
@leathermeisterand you were already in the favourites, further down, but I just added one of your beautiful belts.
We try to feature as many sellers everywhere as we can - both in the favourite finds and the gift guides. (Here’s the link to our favourites in case people aren’t sure where to find them https://folksy.com/folksy-favourites)
I’ve had a look through most of the shops on this thread (I think!) and featured quite a few of your items in our favourites to show you what we’re looking for. But in a nutshell, it’s beautiful, clickable, in focus, sharp photos - lifestyle ones if possible (ie with a few simple props in a lifestyle setting) although we do sometimes include photos against a white background too. Generally a nice simple background that’s not cluttered or distracting works best.
If you want to be included in favourite finds, please don’t put borders or blurring around your product shots (which is the only reason we don’t feature you more in the favourite finds, Joy).
There is more advice in this post but in the meantime I hope this helps you all know what we’re looking for. http://blog.folksy.com/2014/01/31/how-to-be-featured-on-folksy-product-photography-tips
Glad to see so many of your lovely items in the favourite finds.
As I knew mine aren’t in it.
But no surprise there.
I knew mine would not be in it either to be honest I can’t see much wrong with my recent photos have tried to do everything which is asked. Will give up now.
I gave up trying to get into the favourite finds afew months ago. My photos will never be good enough. I have read all the blogs and advice taken what I can on board but nope.
I think I took over 6different reshoots of one item.
It was then I realised not much more I can do
Ah, well done to those who had items added to the favourites!
Camilla @folksycontent you’re a star. Thank you very much and it is good to see a different set of things every now and then.
I know you don’t like borders but my glass looks better with one, honestly. I always had to square up my photos to put them on here and after much experimentation in my photo editor (very antiquated Micrografx but a brilliant piece of software and much quicker to use than my Photoshop) I concluded that a little white fluff first before the plain white extension to a square border (if you see what I mean) works best for me and my glass anyway.
Thanks again, I think everyone is happy now and those who have not looked at the Favourites before will surely do so in future.
@jenniesgems, don’t give up. Your shop is really lovely and with nearly 350 sales you are obviously doing well without being in the folksy favourites!
Thank you your shop and photos look lovely too
I’m still not in there either…I don’t know what to do any more to get in there…
I spend so long taking and re taking my photo’s but I only have a very basic camera…
Your photos and shops are lovely Jenny,Kim and Lily no different to the ones added today so I am sure they are going to be chosen for Favourites.
Thank you Dawn for your kind comments
Nope, I’m not in there either - LOL!
I’m far too busy with packing my sales and working on commissions to faff around with posh photos - my customers like what they see, and that’s what counts, plus I prefer things to look like my style, not some generic style where all the different sellers blend into one.
Many thanks Camilla, looks better now it’s slimmed down. Great that you picked out something of mine to add in, feel free to add more whenever you fancy
Thanks Camilla @folksycontent for adding my belt to the favourites it is appreciated. Saw my cuff in nordic noir gift guide as well. It feels good to get items included. Hazel
Thank you Camilla.
On the subject of having the right type of photograph for the ‘Favourites’ I have listed my latest bag with a ‘prop’ of a scarf in the main picture, but I am not sure now if it looks ok. I would welcome your thoughts,
x
often look Joy, i’m never there, if I were never mind falling off the branch I would fall completely out the tree.
.
I love your stuff, often wonder how these things are chosen.
Kate
Hi Kim,
I think that is a great photograph, it’s clear, bright and in focus and the colours of the scarf complement your beautiful bag.
Thank you Dawn.
I have got so used to trying to get a good picture with a white background, as I thought that was what was favoured, that it’s hard when you change tactics to know if it looks ok.
Thanks again for looking, and for your input…
