Maybe a “workaround” as the shop is not on a holiday mode, it is just a note in the announcement section which does not mean potential customers will read it and will not stop the order from going through. 
I don’t read the announcement as no orders being taken this week. I read it as Ant was at a market over the weekend just gone so wasn’t available then. Like Mina said, the shop isn’t in ‘holiday mode’ so an order can be placed by a customer. I’m thinking that Ant has just forgotten to remove that part of the announcement.
