HI, Im in a zipped bag making mode.
I have an idea to make items to keep knitting and crochet bits in, but as I do neither craft I don’t know what sizes to make or what features would be good.
Any guidance appreciated.
I keep my knitting in a tote bag that is open at the top with just 1 button as a clasp because otherwise it’s a fiddle getting things in and out of the bag and stitches can slip off the needles in the process The only thing I would change about my bag is that the fabric is a plain weave and somehow, even quite large knitting needles can work their way through the fabric and the lining and poke out of the bottom. It would be better in triple weave or a denim/twill weave which would prevent this from happening.

I usually have several projects on the go and keep each one separately bagged in a tote bag or similar canvas type bag. I keep all my sundries like spare hooks, scissors, stitch holders and markers in a zip up make up bag which is easy to take with me. Knitting needles take up more space and I keep these in a plastic storage box along with other odds and ends.
Excellent info thanks. And good point about knitting needles poking through fabric. Im currently obsessed with clear pvc so would like to use that, I shall experiment with its pokiness.
Also what kind of sizes would be good? Are all knitting needles the same length?
PVC would definitly work!

I like to keep my scissors and hook and stitch markers with my crochet projects, so a little pocket would be handy. Something with a drawstring to keep everything contained, maybe?
I couldn’t sleep last night, the only good thing about that is that I think I came up with an idea for a knitting needle pointy end protector, though Il have to think of a more catchy name if it goes into production.
I keep my DPN in this I crocheted out of little bits of left over yarn
my crochet hooks in something similar that I crocheted. My straight knitting needles in a knitting needle role I made from the leg of hubbie old trousers. My circular needles in plastic wallets in a Ring folder and the smaller circular knitting needles ie they have a shorter flexible bit are in a old DVD Case zip up case one DVD pocket per circular knitting needle.
They are all then in a big covered box and any projects are then in cotton bags I made myself and they also go into the big box.
As you can see there is room for stitch markers, row counters, sewing up needles and of course the stitch holders and cable needles. Not forgetting scissors, tape measure and knitting needle sizer thingie.
I often have more than one project on the go and most of the items I knit are small so I often use cotton draw string shoe bags!
