Morning Brenda! @teabreaks

Here’s my Harvest mouse textile artwork - this is one of those artworks which I made and then left for a few weeks, and then decided to add more detail.

Originally, there were only a few poppies but I decided to increase the number so it became more vibrant and floriferous! I’ve made another poppies picture recently, which I need to finish off and then I can show it. This artwork was painted first and stitched over, but I need to make a few more flowers to add to the surface. Will share that once I get far enough along!

Really happy that Spring is here - nice weather and flowers everywhere!

I recently watched a TV documentary about an artist that used pointillism to illustrate his designs for sculpture. It’s not something I have ever done before, but decided to have a go and see what happened. This was the first and second attempt. I was amazed how much detail could be shown with dots, creating depth and layers. My muse is my favourite bird, the Raven. We have many of these cheeky chaps in Shetland.

@Hugr these are stunning! Do you find your hand aches after a while? I know you can buy those pens which do dots automatically, but I don’t know how easy they’d be to control. I’m very fond of ravens too, but have never seen them in the wild - only heard them.

Thank you. Yes, there was some aching to start with. It’s not a natural movement doing dots with a pen, but you quickly adapt. I worked left to right too so my hand was always in contact with blank paper to avoid smudges. I tried a hand rest and an overlay sheet but it didn’t work for me. I’m still experimenting to find my flow.
