Hi Brenda and everyone,

I’ve had a card printed with this artwork for sometime and it’s pretty popular and I’ve finally decided to list the original. Does anyone else find it hard to part with some of their favourite pieces or is it just me?

Loving your little Irish dancer Brenda.

Hello Brenda @teabreaks - I spotted one of your pictures in the Folksy Favourites on the front page this morning!

Tina @DaisyWings, yes, I do hold onto my originals until they have done the rounds of exhibitions (or it’s clear I’m never going to show them…) though I may have prints or cards made soon after I’ve finished them. I agree with Brenda, this one has something very E H Shepard about it!

great work folks
Thanks Helen. @HelenCliffordArt
…that is a rare find…although now they have the daily tags I have made it on there a lot in the last week…especially on the day when the tag was miniature…I have that on all 44 of my aceos…
Well worth doing…I spent over two hours going through my items and adding tags…lol…

Tina @DaisyWings I cannot put the link here, but I googled EH Shephard and it shows one of his drawings sold for £1.2 Million…Keep drawing and painting !!

Thanks so much Brenda @teabreaks and Helen @HelenCliffordArt what a compliment.

Very rainy here today, hope it’s better for you.

Lovely work everyone. Love the Irish dancer Brenda @teabreaks. Love your Pooh-esque painting @DaisyWings. Your hare is a triumph Graham @GKWatercolourArt. (I’ve used the homophone in that sentence many a time to compliment friends when they have been to the hairdressers).
I don’t get that attached to my work I must admit, but I would never sell the painting I did of my cat that is hanging in my living room.
In keeping with the wet weather, my latest is a rainy day in Polperro.

One thing I did notice, Brenda, was that the image for that one was really bright and clear and showed the colours wonderfully. I don’t know whether you have found a different setting on your camera, or a way of editting the photo afterwards, but I would suggest you try it for all your images. I’m sure you would get more in the Folksy Favourites then, they do go for that brighter look.

Helen, one of the problems I find is that it depends on whether or not I move the screen on my laptop…something can look too bright…and then on here it can show up as darker…
I get loads of sales over on the dark side and often with the same photo…so I don’t think it makes any difference…

it’s tricky, isn’t it. Certainly your sales are wonderful, Brenda! Just thinking it might get you a few more chosen for the Folksy Favourites.

Ah yes, laptops screens can be a bit tricky. I know with my desktop if I’m sat on the floor the screen is going to look a lot darker than if I’m sat on my chair… but with laptops sometimes it seems just a tiny nudge of the screen angle can make that much difference. Must be a pain trying to decide which is the true brightness.

Your first photo for this:

and the photos for this:

Look to be at the perfect brightness level on my screen. Maybe if you have one of those open when you’re editing a new one, it’ll be easier to match up the brightness level to it. But either way, you do manage to get an amazing amount of sales!

thanks Kim,it is very difficult…I lighten the pictures and then people tell me they are too light, so I darken them and get told they are too dark…I just have to guess !!
Today’s painting is a snow scene…and believe it or not the surrounding area is a white one !

I’ve moaned before about having to swap paints because the shops are stopping stocking the ones I currently use. I’ve still got over 100 bottles of the stuff so I’m still using it for now, but I know I’m going to run out of my favourite colours and be left with the less useful ones (I can’t mix with the new paints because they have a different finish).

Now I’ve got a commission that needs to match paintings I did a few years ago… and of course I don’t have enough of one of the colours, so I’m going to have to put an order in on the one website that still has some stock. I can’t decide whether to just order that one I need, or go through all my boxes and make sure I’m well stocked on my most used colours to make the postage more worth it (and delay switching paints for longer).

I wish they’d just stop discontinuing things once I’ve decided I like them!

Oh no, what a dilemma. But lovely to have a client come back for another painting after a few years!

@teabreaks Yes, Brenda, that is bigger for you! I do like the foliage on the tree and the bank. I find landscapes so diffficult - too ‘big’ to do all the detail I love and if I leave that out, too full of ‘nothing’ I can pin down!!

It is lovely, and it’s a commission I’m really excited about painting too. The first was for their first child and now they’re due again… it’ll be ok, but if they have any more children in a few years it might be a bit more of a dilemma
