Hi All, Ray i just love your ty Canol Wood painting. As a newbie to the online art can ask some advice please, i actually havent listed artwork before, so what do you guys do for postage and packing? do we frame or not frame, what packing do you guys normally use, just any advice and tips would be gratefully appreciated Thanks Linds x

welcome to the art thread Lindsey…I started this thread about 10 years ago and we are still going…sometimes by the skin of our teeth but it is lovely to see new artists joining in.

I personally don’t sell with frames. Apart for the weight and added cost, people usually like to choose their own frames to go with their decor. I have sold over 400 paintings on Folksy and thousands more on other sites and have never sold with a frame…and it hasn’t stopped the sales.

For packaging, I save all the boxes from Ama*** etc, then I cut them up to make backing card for posting. I tried board backed shop bought envelopes but they seemed too flimsy for me and I was worried that paintings might get damaged in transit… (I even make my own envelopes to fit around the card and painting) I can cut the card to whatever size I need.On rare occasions, I add bubble wrap …it depends on whether or not it is a box canvas, that needs extra protection…
Hope that helps…x

Lindsay…Folksy is a lovely and friendly place to be…keep a look out for other threads on the forums where you can share your art…AND…you can even start a thread…no one here is in charge , so if you can’t find a suitable thread, create one ! For example, I will also share this painting on a thread that says, show your floral items,…or another one that says show your orange items…Just jump in and share !

For posting artwork I use Colompac rigid envelopes, A4 and A3. They are strong and reliable and you can buy them in packs of 10 or more on eBay for a low price. I also use a plastic envelope inside, just in case the outer envelope gets wet for some reason.
