Been here 4 months, sold nothing

Thanks Joy - I was assuming that. Potentially that makes it an expensive shop.

This applies to all selling platforms though, so I reckon most buyers are already familiar to that. Not necessarily a nice amount to be added at the end, but unless everybody has got it free there is no control over that.

I don’t think I have ever done a multi shop shop here or on my other selling sites. I tend to go in to buy something specific and I know that what I buy is being posted to me directly by the seller so wouldn’t expect anything else really.
Even on Amazon when I do sometimes have several things in my basket at once (my local shopping options are limited, my once historic market town is now a massive housing estate with 95% charity shops, food supermarkets and coffee bars) I appreciate that some items have added postage while others do not.
Don’t see any problem with it. Everybody knows that no postage is actually free. I don’t think the postage element is related to why a shop has been here 4 months and sold nothing.

I havn’t ever done multi shopping either, I would imagine most people buy from one shop then move to the next and do each shop transaction seperately

Hi Roz,
I sold one thing straight away joining Folksy but since that time of more than a year zilch! Very disappointed, I also have 2 shops on Etsy and very few sales, I must be doing something wrong but for the life of me cannot figure out what . I don’t have the expertise or will to spend hour upon hour on finding out quite honestly. I have won award after award for my work so someone thinks it is good.
Making is my expertise, not computer work think I will close all of them It depresses me and thats not a good feeling at all! https://folksy.com/shops/articeramics

How are you promoting your Folksy shop? On checking your Facebook & Instagram I don’t see any mention of Folksy, only your own website and occasionally Etsy.
Promotion on social media is very important, you cannot rely on passing trade, Folksy is a fraction of the size of the other site… If you don’t tell people about your Folksy shop, they won’t find it.
I’m retired, so my shop is just a hobby for me but I still post on Facebook a couple of times a week, plus all new items I make get shared to Twitter and Pinterest, and the occasional Instagram post. I get about 80-90 sales per year. I also join in the ‘daily listing promotion’ thread on this forum from time to time to help promote some of my fellow Folksy sellers, and in return they promote me.
All my promotions point to my Folksy shop.

I’m a great lover of ceramics and buy quite a lot, particularly at xmas. One of the major things that encourages me to purchase are attractive photos. A lot of your photos are against cgi backgrounds, and that’s not good. I want to see ceramics in situ, on furniture or well lit against plain backgrounds with creative and tasteful props. That’s what will help me buy because it looks professional and attractive and most people shop with their eyes. Your creations are lovely and quirky, but your photos let them down.

That’s a beautiful painting Trevor - so tender. Joining in on the forums is how I have learnt the ropes. Check out the Folksy blogs for lots of advice on writing your listings, tags etc - some information here - Get your shop in shape | Folksy Blog.

For example - your title “I can’t see you but I know you’re there” is beautiful but it doesn’t say anything about what the item is. What you have written in your description - “ Original impressionist watercolour painting
Unique animal portrait.
Painting unframed.
Watercolour painting, ” should be in your title - or at least some of it - to tell people what the item is - and to help people find it. A potential customer wouldn’t search for the title you have given. Learner to be a seller takes a little while - I am still learning and refining things.

Hope you recover soon - I would love to see more of your work

Hello and welcome Trevor,
Your painting is beautiful  good advice above re your title, but from a buyers perspective you haven’t given any size information in your description? There’s nothing in the photos to give me a clue either, I wouldn’t buy anything if I didn’t know the size, especially a painting as I need to know it’s going to fit where I intended to hang it.
Anyhow, hope you feel better soon and I’ll look forward to seeing some more of your work here.

welcome Trevor @animalsandabstracts …lovely work in you shop…get painting…you need to list and many items as you can so that every time someone looks in your shop, there is something new to see.
There is also an “original art” thread on the forums…you might need to scroll a long way to find it but you are welcome to join us on there…meet your fellow artists…x…good luck x

I agree. That picture is a delight. Just needs better describing and then some social media promotion.
I will happily share it on my page as soon as Trevor has made a few of the suggested changes.

Your all very kind and inspirational, a lot of welcome information to take on board .
Been on other sites I won’t mention and you don’t get any feedback or advice just trying to get a few more quid out of you.
Never had this before I’m really impressed
