Here’s a challenge but it can only really be for the ‘old’ Folksy sellers, those who have been here for 10 years…
I made a suncatcher today which i make infrequently when the mood takes me. My Owl Ring. I made and sold my first in 2009 (a year after taking up my stained glass craft). I didn’t sell this particular one online but at a market so though from the photo it looks rather wonky (best way to describe it ) especially against my current version somebody loved it enough, in person, to pay good money for it.
Note nowadays I leave my computer to draw my circles and i draw the design inside the perfectly symetrical computer drawn outline, Originally i drew round a plate or whatever round thing was handy
So the challenge is, if you dare, show us the original version of one of your pieces from 10+ years ago and alongside it the current version.
Here is first Owl Ring and latest Owl Ring and I will not label them as I really really hope you can tell which is which
Great idea @JOYSofGLASS, I only have bears from 10 plus years ago and each one is different but could still add one although I lost a lot of photos a few years ago so will see how far they go back. It’s good to see how work has evolved over the years, I know my bears have vastly improved over that time. Love the sun catchers,I think the perfect circle makes a big difference x
What a great idea, Joy. Actually I love both your owls, though it’s clear how your technique has refined over the years. Oscar’s crazy eyes are wonderful!
I have around 645 to choose from …will look for an old and odd one, I made one for my son in law when he propsed to my daughter, he tied the engagement ring around her neck, she is pretty dire lol will try and find her x
Here is one of my first crossbody bags I made from wool tweed, I now make my own leather straps and buckle fasteners. First picture is a bag I made in 2012, the second picture is what I now make
So much smarter now, Tracey, just more ‘crisp’. I’ve loved your bags for ages, especially the ‘Mary Poppins’ style carpet bags - just haven’t been able to justify new luggage!!
Oh did you Joy? It’s great to know that my work has travelled far and wide!
When I made the 2010 angels, I think that primitive art (not in the art history sense of primitive art) was quite in fashion…I think it shows! It’s funny how trends subtly influence my style - don’t know about yours?
