Hello Group,
I need some advice! We have ordered some medals which unfortunately have the incorrect date printed on them. We would still really like to use them. As you can see, the date at the top and bottom of this medal incorrectly says 2017. Can any of you think of a way that we could cover up or hide the bottom and top date?
Do you think either of these options could work…
• Gold leaf: https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/pebeo-deco-gold-gilding-flakes/570120-1001
• Stick a bit of gold sticky back plastic over the date: https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/gold-sparkle-glitter-special-effects-fablon-45cm-x-15m/631850-1001
We’re open to options and happy to use any craft suggestions.
Thank you in advance for all your help
What about filling the outer ring with coloured epoxy resin? You can get gold (or other colour) powders to add to 2 part epoxy resin - I’m not sure that the gold would match so you might want to go for something contrasting. You would need to ‘key’ the area first (so that the resin adheres) using a coarse grinding tip and a hand held hobby drill (Dremel or similar) which would allow you to make sure the lettering is below the level of the rim and so would be covered by the resin.

Either red or blue would look good. Silver coloured resin would work well too. I certainly can’t think of anything better. Gold leaf would be a bit expensive for this wouldn’t it? Or is that just me.

Hi @folksycontent and @dougfolksy - just out of interest, when I clicked on the link to Hobbycraft in this post, the urls which flashed before I reached the Hobbycraft website included a you tube url, gepi.global and network.eu.bazaar, amongst others (and they vary each time I click on the link). Is this the Folksy web analytics or is it Hobbycraft’s analytics. Just curious as to why they are going through these various urls before reaching the Hobbycraft destination page.
I’m sorry Heidi, I don’t know. I would imagine it’s Hobbycraft though, as we don’t have analytics set up on the forum to see where people are going to from posts.
