Childhood books

Good heavens yes, I loved Olga Da Polga - and I have a pal with guinea pigs whose birthday approaches - thank you I now know what she is getting

I just reread the Weirdstone of Brisingamen too, and went on to the sequels which I’m not sure were written when I read it the first time… I remember loving The Owl Service as well.

Another favourite was The Children of Green Knowe and the rest of the series - I borrowed them all from the library but I really wish I’d had my own copies because I would have kept them and they’re not all available now. My single copy of The Children of Green Knowe is falling apart.

The Phantom Tollboth was another favourite, and The Ogre Downstairs, and all of the Swallows and Amazons books, and I could go on and on, I was a complete bookworm, if there was nothing else to read I’d read the side of the cereal box at the breakfast table!
