I only send to UK and Europe as my insurance does not cover me selling in USA
I would check your insurance first Jennie just to be on the safe side.
My insurance is with Ian Wallace
I havenāt had a sale outside Europe on here, I have on the other site. I prefer to post within e.u. anyway. And post is expensive enough, let allow world wide. I swear its gone up or theyāve reworked package sizes.
I ask customers to get I touch regarding international postage. I find it really difficult to get an estimate that covers my fees properly. I have had a few sales head over seas, I just charge for the extra postage separately.
Remember that though you (and I) may balk at high shipping costs, there are customers out there who donāt mind paying the international postage. I think usa based customers pay high prices for their own internal mail so they donāt mind paying the international shipping charges.
Iāve just had a lovely sale from Sweden. :0)

@TheMeadsCraftHouse Hi Jennie, I offer international delivery and Ive had lots of sales from all over, Germany, France, Australia, and lots to the USA!!
I researched how much my items would cost to post abroad, with the heaviest it could generally be for the package and put that price on each listing to cover the cost - as the customers are abroad they do expect to pay slightly more postage than UK customers, as we of course have to pay more to receive an item from abroad to here, so itās usually fine and doesnāt put people off - like someone said earlier the people in the USA tend to like buying British handmade!
Hope that helps!
Iāve not sold any thing on Folksy abroad yet but I donāt offer every thing to overseas customers as yet.
Iām slowly doing so though.
I do sell my knitting patterns to the USA, New Zealand, Australia and India but theyāve all found my pattern via another platform.
I think itās worth offering it afterall weāve not lost any thing if they donāt buy at least they have the option of buying if we offer it.
