This is driving me nuts! I am trying to create a Folksy Friday social media post and want to include a hand painted, handheld fan. I have tried searching using: Japanese fan, Chinese fan, paper fan, folding fan, wedding favour fan, silk fan, bamboo fan, hand painted fan - and so many other connotations, but no results. I see results for fantasy, football fan, and all the tag results (e.g. gift for sports fan, etc.) but no products. If I search for “folding paper fan” on another selling platform, millions of the correct product appear! I just want to highlight a seller, why is it so difficult?! Surely there are such products in Folksy?
I’ve just tried several different searches and I think the answer is no they’re aren’t any fans or the search function just doesn’t find them. Perhaps there’s a gap in the market on Folksy!

I’ve just put it through a google search and nothing comes up but I did find that B&Q sell them, how random!

I searched with folksy. com/tags/fan and I only get a page of results back, but not handheld ones, just items using the same shape.
The search folksy. com/tags/handheld_fan returns 0 results, so I guess there are no handheld fans here. (I did the same with the Japanese fan, Chinese fan and silk fan, but no results either)

There is a section for fans under accessories, but it is empty, so we definitely need some fan makers!

Far from ideal to have to do this but… if you want to be sure that there aren’t any of the type of fans you’re looking for on Folksy, you can use Google to search the site rather than the inbuilt Folksy search function.
So, for example type this into the Google search box:
site:folksy.com japanese fan
The space after folksy.com is intentional. You can also further refine the search to look for exact term matches by typing:
site:folksy.com “japanese fan”
I remember seeing posts on here recently by someone who makes things with lots of Japanese fabrics - they might want to start making some fans if we don’t have any here!
