Folksy site performance and status update - November 2024

Hi all. James has written a blog post explaining the recent outages and errors we’ve seen on Folksy. As he explains in the article, we’re also going to be using the Folksy Status Blog again as a way to communicate issues, so if you are experiencing issues you’ll be able to look on there to see if it’s related to a known or ongoing issue and see what action we’re taking.

Hopefully this is useful. As always, if you experience a problem accessing Folksy and it doesn’t resolve itself quickly, please do email us at support@folksy.co.uk. If the issue is over a weekend and appears critical, please mark your email as ‘urgent’.

Thank you, it’s really useful to have an explanation for the intermittent errors some users have been experiencing! And thank you too for reinstating the status blog as a quick way to find out about issues. Very useful for those of us who are not very tech-savvy and are sometimes not sure whether the problem is at our end or yours!

This sounds like a good idea. Could you explain how to find and access the Folksy Status Blog (apart from clicking on the link you provided) on an ongoing basis, as I didn’t know there had ever been such a facility. Is it going to be an addition to our Dashboards, or on the general Folksy Home Page? Thanks!

I have added it to my favourites if that helps at all

@theslothscavern Thanks Mina, I’ve just done the same, but it would be nice if it formed part of our dashboard options, like Theme of the Day etc

If folksy is down you won’t be able to get to your dashboard to get to the status link.
That is the why the status is on a different platform, not part of Folksy itself I imagine.

Yes I’d noticed it was a Wordpress site - so now I know why! Thanks.

@JudyAdams The link is also on our main Knowledge Base page - https://folksy.uservoice.com/
(you can get to it by scrolling to the bottom of a Folksy page and clicking ‘Help & Support’) and may be linked to from some error pages (although that will depend on the error, as Joy says, if there’s an issue with the site loading it won’t be bringing up our custom error pages).

Thanks Kim. I’ve now saved that link too. @kimfolksy
