Site issues - 8 Oct 2024

We’ve been experiencing some timeouts on the site this evening, starting around 17.30. We’re working to identify and fix the issues as quickly as possible.

Please bear with us while we work to get everything back to normal. We’re really sorry!

Still down at 21:35 …

It appears things might be getting better now, however speed is quite variable and there may still be some issues. Unfortunately it seems likely that this is related to an issue with one of the services we use (https://status.heroku.com/), but our engineer is still busy working on this while we wait for the service provider to resolve the issue on their end. We’ve managed to get item pages loading successfully for a while now, however other pages on the site may still have problems.

We’re working to find a way around this in case the issues aren’t fully resolved soon, and hope to have everything loading as usual again as soon as possible. Apologies again for the problems tonight.

I’m in, and things seem OK so far - thanks for persevering!

Has anyone else got the same problem today, I can’t access my account at the minute.

I’ve just tried to relist something and got the ‘website is under heavy load’ message. :slightly_frowning_face:

Hi, I"m finding it a bit slow this afternoon - had a couple of 505 timeout messages!

We’re currently experiencing similar issues to last night caused by one of the services we use (Heroku). Folksy is not the only site affected. We have been reassured that Heroku are working urgently to fix it, but if that takes too long we have some temporary measures we may be able to take to get everything stable again. We will keep you updated.
