Folksy Widgets!

Hey great, I’ve just added the link to my FB page and pinned it, had no idea this was possible, thanks so much for bringing up the subject of widgets!

…now to put them into my website…!

Just wondering - will Fb allow you to add a widget and thereby promote your shop so directly. A bit nervous if doing that as we went through a phase of being shut down on several occasions

Sure FB will see no difference between that and a link to your shop. It is just a link after all.

Indeed, if you look at what I’ve done, it’s just a link to the widget, rather than the embedded iframe thingy. As Joy showed, you just skip all the additional html and just paste the link. I guess I’ll let you know if FB do anything to sanction me though!

Thank you Joy - I did wonder that too

It looks great and I sincerely hope you don’t get sanctioned as it’s a pain especially as Fb don’t tell you what you have done that’s particularly roused them! Just need to go and work out how to just paste it as a link!

:white_flag: ok - I’m not the best at technology but can usually figure it out but I’m stumped with how those of you have posted your widget on fb don’t have any of the widget text showing. I’m obviously missing something. I’ve changed the widget to show 30 rows x 4 which covers all our work but when I post, it displays the test.

This is what I am pasting into my fb post -

Sorry for being such a dunce :joy:

OK so my widget didn’t display there :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Anne what is your shop number, I will see if I can help

Thanks Sue - I’ve reposted it on Fb and the link is working and showing our shop listings - but the widget text is there - so you might be able to see it. Our shop number is 283286.

Yes Anne I can see it, however I can not for the life of me see why it is showing as the code looks the same as mine apart from the shop number and mine doesn’t show it.

All I can think is that maybe there is a space between the >< of this part
/iframe> if that makes sense

Ah I think the cause is the #hashtags underneath just try removing the hashtags and see if it fixes the problem. (you can always cut the hash tags and paste them in a note book to make it easier to add back in if it doesn’t fix the problem

Thank you Sue - tried both of those and doesn’t seem to have made any difference :woman_shrugging:

Anne, I’m sorry I am sure it is down to a coding error but I just can not see it, maybe @JOYSofGLASS can help

Resolved it’s the help of Sharon from @theoldbutton . Sharon said to removed the text either side of the quotation marks - and the quotation marks - which has left me with “https://widgets.folksy.com/shops/283286/4/30/shop“ - but without the quotation marks. And that’s done the trick!

Thank you to @KusumaDesigns for bringing this to our attention. A great feature.
