looking to move house and be more in nature that inspires me, but I want a crafty area for county and connection- any recommendations?
“coummunity”
My friend used to live in Frome, she said it was crafting paradise. East Neuk of Fife also comes highly recommended, with the Pittenweem arts festival annually.
Look for somewhere with a thriving arts festival and open studio programme. I suspect there are more than we all realise, all over the place.
thank you, I had not even thought of open studios - great tips.
frome- never would have occurred to me, shall go look
I can recommend cambridge/cambridgeshire, we are currently in the midst of our open studios - 365 people taking part this year! Regular council run craft market plus extra events in the run up to christmas. Also galleries and shops to sell through. Plenty of exhibitions to visit as well (going to give up doing this on the tablet now)
Totnes is an amazing place to be - really inspiring.
lol every single suggestion so far I have a past family connection to- must be in my blood. thank you will research a bit more house prices etc
love Cambridge but eldest has just moved away from there due to house prices - he has been forced abroad due to cost of living - so it is a no sadly.
just had a look, brilliant place- but too costly , thank you
totnes looks lovely my grandparents lived there when they were first married - where would you recommened that is quiet to live?
What about deepest, darkest Shropshire? A pleasant mostly rural county with plains in the northern half and beautiful hills in the South. Lots of small market towns, many of which have craft markets, Ludlow and Bridgnorth stand out but there are others.
I have to admit to bias as I live here
yes I have my eye on Shropshire having lived in powys before - the area inspired me
We have had one holiday and love Shropshire - beautiful countryside and a very relaxed atmosphere we thought - but strong community. Ludlow was fabulous - we would move somewhere round there given half the chance
