Hand embroidery

I usually specialise in raw edge applique and free motion embroidery, but recently I have been working on some purely hand embroidered art. I wondered if anyone else had anything similar to share as this would mak eit a fascinating thread?

I have examples of framed artworks and cards, and am working on launching some ‘sew your own’ kits in a few weeks.

Here’s a framed artwork to get us going, newly listed in my shop:

That is gorgeous, all my things are hand stitched with a bit of embroidery, me and sewing machines don’t get on! It would be great to see some more hand embroidery here.

I’ve seen some lovely kits, and am hoping we get to see some of those too! :grinning:

I do love these birds in your shop @TheCraftingGardener

A beautiful piece of embroidery. I have given it some love and pinned it to my Embroidery board on pinterest.

Sorry,I am a bit of a gatecrasher here, as I use embroidery alot, but other peoples.Things I find discarded and so often undervalued. I try to extend their life a little longer, but unlike you talented folk, I can’t do it myself! Like this corner of a tablecloth purse. I just love finding these beautiful threads.

Ha ha - I like gatecrashers! It’s very relevant to the thread as it’s hand embroidery - thank you for sharing it! It’s nice that they don’t end up in the bin but are given a new lease of life!

My new listing for today. A pair of hand embroidered dressing table mats. The last photo in the listing is the back of the mats.

Thank you! I find I have to rest my eyes more so doing this than the free motion embroidery. I worked on a piece for three hours not so long ago and by the end my eyes were like mush!! Lesson learned…

Here’s another, a nice cheery yellow bouquet - maybe nice for a golden wedding anniversary??

love the stump work with the bullion knots

Thank you @EileensCraftStudio - the bullion knots are a new favourite for me. I’ve not done any proper stumpwork but will have a go at some point with covering beads etc. It’s proving to be a nice addition to my embroidering!

I used to spend hours “freestyle” hand embroidering. These were the last two I did a few years back. Close up work played havoc with my eyes now so I had to give it a rest.
