We can agree on two points, what happened to the children was wrong and there will be a divide but that would have been so if remain had won.
The forum is no place to discuss politics or religeon but I didn’t start it.
There is talk of corrupt politicians,I agree whole heartedly,so corrupt they would feather their own EU nest and to hell with the rest.
Live of the crumbs that fall from the EU table and that is all you will ever have and what are they worth? The world and his wife can claim healthcare and allsorts,It is bleeding the NHS dry,EU may hand out a few grants but we all pay for them.
In a word,NO,wrong place altogether. Ithink I have just made my final post on the matter.May have commited folksy suicide but had my say.
I’m with you James, but scared to voice my opinion now. Politics eh!!!
It’s s topicial and will effect business so yep it’s not just a Political, social, national issue it’s an economic issues ie it effects business so therefore it’s a topic for a business forum and Folksy is a business forum/platform.
Oh and it’s being discussed on a lots of platforms where business is conducted.
Well, I am a little disappointed with the ranting. If we were talking about non-UK shops and re-sellers, the thread would be removed, as has happened in the past!
I don’t see anything wrong with a discussion on a public forum about something that will effect us all. No one is insulting anyone or being nasty. Simply discussing how they see things.
No one is being forced to read or comment on this thread either.
Seems an odd thing to want to quell a discussion about the biggest thing in the news this year/decade.
I actually think it will now be quite interesting to see how this effects small homegrown businesses. Whether people will sort of feel too scared to purchase (as in may want to save their money) so won’t spend- I suspect this may be the case straight away- also shopping may not be on everyone’s minds right now. But it also may improve sales from abroad as our currency falls possibly.
I guess there’s a fair few options as to where it could go.
While I do feel this topic is relevant as it effects businesses small and large, I don’t want to cause any divisions or make anyone feel they can’t speak so I’m going to delete this topic in a few minutes.
Massively disappointed that we aren’t allowed to have a discussion about a major matter that will probably effect us all.
It would have been interesting to see where people believe this will take their business & Folksy as a whole for that matter.
If people don’t like what’s written in this topic they don’t need to read it or comment.
I’m also hugely disappointed and can’t actually believe that just happened.
That’s not right.
Just because someone doesn’t wish to take part or think about it you are going to close it that’s really very disappointing
Ok. I will keep it open @curiousseagull @EileensCraftStudio - or at least until I have a total anxiety attack.
I do think our exit from the EU is relevant to everyone here as sellers based in Britain, selling here and abroad.
Again though I am worried about creating tension and so if anyone does choose to post in here could you please respect everyone’s opinion. That would be lovely.
I’m going to have a cup of mint tea now.
I feel it may not be as bad as everyone thinks, there is more to the world than the E.U. I say this typing on my iPad, made in China out of South Korean components for an American company, also today I have used my Swiss embroidery machine my Japanese laptop, my fridge and washing machine, both also South Korean. I watched the results on my Japanese television, do you see where I’m going with this?
Anyway enough of being silly, I did want to say that not everyone who voted to leave is a larger swilling xenophobic Farrageite. Some of us voted because we believe that the European Union no longer does what it’s meant to. It was originally set up to combat problems that arose from the Cold War and communism, neither of which is a problem in Europe any more. We need a new union which addresses modern problems. The world has changed a lot since 1945!
We can agree on that as well.
Don’t give yourself a heart attack,I can remember pre EU and things were different, others can’t,that’s all, there wont be a folksy war over it it,enjoy the tea.
Susannah, it’s little comfort I know, but I have a sister in Ottawa and an old friend in Vancouver and both absolutely adore living in Canada, have made it their homes (over 20 years for them both). I hope you’ll both be equally happy there x
You said that perfectly Donna, I wish I was so articulate. I also think everyone must remember it was a fair, democratic vote for the citizens of the UK.
I agree - everyone had their own valid reasons for voting as they did, and we must all respect that, but we also have our own opinions on how it will affect the country and our businesses when we leave. I don’t see any harm in a civilised discussion, as long as it doesn’t get personal.
I went to bed last night feeling pretty confident that Remain would be what the majority would have voted for, so I got quite a shock this morning when I heard the news. The UK was just starting to get back on its feet again, and soon we’ll have the whole Scotland debate to make things even less stable. Maybe the UK leaving will make the EU realise that it needs to take a long hard look at itself as it clearly isn’t working for a lot of people.
I think another Scottish referendum is inevitable, it’s just a case of when, not if.
Last time it was pretty decisive (10% difference). This next time…? I couldn’t begin to say, but I suspect it’ll be a heck of a lot closer. Considering not one area of Scotland chose to Leave, it’s pretty much a given that we feel rather unrepresented at the moment.
speaking as an african immigrant … i’d just like to add that i sat up watching the entire night’s events unfold, and, regardless of the result, to be able to watch democracy in action like that was a beautiful thing. i think we Brits take a lot for granted
