Invite members link

Hi Guys

As a relative newby can someone shed light on the invite members link what it is and how it works as I’ve received the following:

"Create a link that can be shared to instantly grant access to this site.

Link is valid for up to 10 users and expires in 90 days. Edit link options or send by email."

Sounds a bit iffy. When you say you’ve received it, do you mean it is an email from Folksy? Are you sure it isn’t a scam?

Judy @ Judy Adams Ceramics when you go to the 3 horizontal lines (menu) the invite link is just under topics and the email was in there showing a link with someones name. There’s no way Im clicking on it- knowing my luck if I click on it I’ll fry the memory on my laptop   :joy:

Since I’ve added this post the link has disappeared

Here is the “invite” function that Suzi @LilibertsCards referred to - part of this forum site. This forum is a similar to one we used back in the day when I was working in training, and we had the ability to create a link to “invite” new members too. It’s a bit old style, but pretty standard.

Sorry about the quality, I couldn’t screenshot this pop up box, so had to take a photo with my phone of the computer screen

If you click on it, you get this box.

Suzi - did you get an email, or did you get a message on this site?

Thanks - I thought that the invitation to click on a link had been received via email. @LilibertsCards @TheOldButton

If you have Windows, you might find this helpful :slightly_smiling_face: Use Snipping Tool to capture screenshots - Microsoft Support

Hi Sharon I received a request to click on it, it did show 0/10 which was at this point my alarm bells started ringing and so I thought it might be spam. Thank you for your sleuthing xx

Thank you so much. Really useful resource, I’ll save it.

I used to use Snip, but now I have a a screenshot shortcut set up on my computer (I use it a lot ) and it normally works fine. I have tried again and it’s all good. I think it’s because I was right-clicking outside the drop down menu box to start the image capture, when I should have done it within the box.
