I've been a bit busy with my new dog! including making stuff for him....OBVIOUSLY

Yeah, we’re not worried! We’ve rehomed from them plenty times over the years- just a shame to have to take one back! But that’s life I suppose- I guess we’ve rehomed more though! Haha.
I’m sure your new dog will have an awesome time with you! Have fun!

We’ve only ever had rescue animals. Our now 10 year old dog we did get when she was 13 weeks tho (the lab breeder gave the whole litter of 9 to the RSPCA because her bitch got with a “mutt”) and 3 years ago we took on 2 7 year old cat brothers. Always been really lucky with our animals.

My Mum and Dad had a really nice rescue lab cross, much nicer that the pure bred Basinji that they had before - frequently refered to as the ‘Devil Dog’ !

I’d love a new dog, but my dog isn’t keen on other dogs, so I have done the next best thing and set up a new dog walking and animal care business, now I get to play with all sorts of dogs, cats, horses, sheep and chickens. Yay!! And Rowan gets to play with dogs who she gets on with in small doses, all the time knowing she’s my number one girl.
This morning I took on a lovely red irish setter, who is going to be soo much fun! :grinning:

I expect you will be very much in demand. I have to have a minor op on my foot week after next - hopefully all will be well but won’t be able to do long walks for a few days at least - but hopefully family/friends can step in as mine is dog sociable and pretty good on lead. Any problems though and I might need a dog walker for a while!

Congratulations on your gorgeous new addition!

Rescue dogs are the best!!!

Well I’ve made the first step - spoke to the local greyhound rescue this morning :open_mouth: They’ll come for a home visit and a ‘good chat’ sometime this week and we’ll see what happens next. I’ve never owned a dog before although I’ve dog sat a few times.

We were with them and the home visit was very useful and I’m sure you will get lots of great advice. We ended up getting Tom from the Blue Cross - we were specifically looking for a lurcher but many Greyhound rescues have those too.

We were also in touch with Hounds First http://houndsfirst.co.uk/ who were also very good , we;d just signed up with them and then found Tom so came off their list, but I recommend them highly too.

Not a very spoil dog then… bless his heart he looks thoroughly at home…
Our girl loves her bed and blanket to the point that if on cold nights the blanket comes off her she comes and wakes me up to cover her over again.

Sighthound types - smooth coated lurchers, whippets, Greyhounds all love their blankies! not much hair on 'em you see !

Sadly a grey is not for us :frowning: We have 2 free flying budgies and the rescue lady said they wouldn’t last 2 minutes with a grey in the house. So I’ve applied to be a guide dog puppy walker instead

Ah yes I am sure she is correct - that’s why their policy of home visits are so important as there is definately a sighthound mindset which you have to accomodate and be prepared for. The high prey drive is very significant! How lovely that you are now looking at the puppy walking option! exciting
