lol Liz. I have trouble keeping up too. I remember the stories but who said what is beyond me
You have my sympathy with arthritis as that is what is wrong with my back. My lower spine has grown a bone spur which presses on my nerves and gets extremely painful at times and does make it very difficult to walk yet on a good day, although I’m in pain 24/7, an ‘outsider’ wouldn’t know there was anything wrong with me. All the doc does is give me pain killers. I can have an operation to remove the spur but it will grow back and being so close to my nerves it is a risky operation which could leave me unable to walk. At the moment the good days outweigh the bad so doc says it isn’t worth taking the risk. I’m also told I’m overweight but not to do too much exercise due to the strain on my back. I’m told even walking is bad do to the pressure when you put your heel down! What am I supposed to do?!?
Evening everyone - well done on all the sales - just been sorting out all my quilts and cushions for the weekend - didn’t realise I had so much stock - hoping to have a sale or two at the weekend. We have just hung four large quilts up in the dining room - for this event I turn the dining room into a Quilt Shop - even if people dont buy they like to come in and browse and I have some lovely people to talk to about my passion for needlework and quilts. I usually end the weekend exhausted but find it very satisfying. Tomorrow I shall get the baby quilts displayed and then cushions and smaller items. My visits to you may be a little brief over the next few days but I will try and keep up. Have read all your news but like others by the time I get to the end of the forum I have forgotten who has lost a neighbour, what was found on the allotment and who had the leak - think Jacqueline and Liz were involved there somewhere - anyway I have pinned, tweeted and loved you all and I’ll see you all tomorrow - night night - Maureen
Hope so too Jax - when he has finished his house he can start on mine! Six people in a two and a bit (not really large enough to be called a third bedroom) house is getting to be a tight squeeze. Been casually looking at 5 beds in our local area and we wouldn’t get much change from £450,000! (that is the cheapest I have seen) then you have to add on the stamp duty, solicitors fees, searches etc etc. Come on National Lottery! Might have to look further afield. Saw an episode of escape to the country the other day and they were in County Wicklow - I think - and the sorts of houses we would need were in the region of £210,000. Still expensive but more affordable. Why is it always a couple with no children who want the huge houses on these programmes anyway?
Oh my, after a monster of a day at work and then returning home for a 2½ hour session with the husband to help him with a powerpoint presentation that he needs to do, I finally logged in to my Folksy to see that someone bought 2 of my fairy house kits. 2 Sales! yay! @NOfkantsCurios This takes me up to a grand total of 3 for the month. lol
Off the work my way through and do a bit of loving.
@karenscraftybitz Hope you feel better soon Karen. @Knittingtopia Carol, could you you maybe try some swimming. It is great for burning calories but doesn’t have the impact on the joints. @beadedgarden Jane, glad to hear your fb giveaway is going so well. I wish I could say the hayfever was better. Didn’t feel too bad when I first got up but soon deteriorated. However it would appear from the thread that I am certainly not alone in my suffering, and I am determined not to let it get me too down - can you see the smile peeping hesitantly through my sniffles?
I do enjoy everyone’s news, and being part of this thread is a comforting thing. Crafty people are special people. I’m going to try and get an early night tonight.
Oh, Carol, what a pickle - you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. I understand a little bit of your pain as OH has 3 fused vertebrae so he has problems - not with walking so much but with standing up for long periods. He’s working in a tea shop kitchen at the moment, but I know he is finding it hard. He was a chef for 35 years, in some quite fancy places, but he just can’t manage the standing now - he’s much happier doing his gardening work, at least with that he can keep moving. However, I’m glad to hear that your good days are still outnumbering the bad days and I hope it stays like that for as long as possible.
Right, I’m shattered so I’m off to bed. I’ll see you all in the morning with some more fibre destash.
Big gentle hugs for arthritic’s, it’s awful in a sense when you know people can’t see your pain, cos half of them do look and think *can’t see nothing wrong with her/him, I suffer with ME/CFS Fibro so know how those comments feel.
@JAustenJewelleryDesign That does sound a squeeze Jacqueline, our is a 3 bedroom, the third is a 6 x 8 ft so tiny, got bunkbeds in there and a wardrobe and can just get to the window so goodness knows how you are managing the houses your way sound very expensive, wouldn’t you get away with a 4 bedroom and maybe a garage that you could convert, then again the garage could make a handy craft room
The four beds around here are all around the £400,00 - £425,000 mark and more if you add a garage or off street parking :-(. I know ours is small and getting quite stressful, but at least we can afford it, as hubby in on three day weeks. Luckily his boss is great and wages haven’t been affected that much, but still not great prospects.
Sleep well all of you and sorry for those of you in pain with your joints. Does this warm weather help at all?
I have been busy trying to get some fancy dress sorted for me and my daughter for my nieces “wimbledon” party. Not been too adventurous, I liked the idea of going as a strawberry but in the end opted for a ball boy and linesman! Shame you can’t sell off fancy dress gear on here - I’ve got a loft full of it!
Morning all. I am seriously considering having a break from Folksy - this month has been the worst ever for me on here, my views are down, sales are down etc and I haven’t done anything differently to normal. My pro seller account is due for renewal in August so I will have to seriously consider whether or not to continue
I feel your pain, it has been the worst month for me too! Not had a single sale! My pro account is due for renewal within the next 10 days! Big decision time for me!
Well done Apryl on your sale! Happy dancing for you!
@silverspiral Jax, I need a kick this morning…lol! Fifth day in a row of early start! Love the new ring btw x
@AmeliaMaysJewellery Amelia, the earrings are fab, very unusual x @BeadstormJewellery sue another beautiful bangle, I must say I love the bangle style, but the colours are gorgeous @NOfkantsCurios Natalie, love the glass case, may have to treat myself again if I get a few more sales! I do have one for stationery tally to report from yesterday though, thanks
Back in a bit with listing, still working on this large wedding stationery design…wish it was done!!
Steph xx
Good morning Pearls, I hope you’re well? I’m feeling a bit cross this morning, after a night of tossing and turning I went to water my green house plants and checked my fruit bushes only to find All my raspberries and most of my gooseberry have been eaten by birds so I have to make some sort of scarecrow today. Sorry for moaning, I’m off to make something pretty to cheer myself up now. I’ll be back later with a listing. I’m all pinned and posted up to here.
