I’ve had a customer in the US (Tennessee) contact me today to say that she hasn’t received her order yet (posted on either 11th or 12th November).
Is anyone finding that sending to the US is taking a little while at the moment? Anyone had any problems? I can easily replace her order, but obviously don’t want to send anything out just yet.
If you posted it on the 11th then it’s only been 2 weeks. That’s perfectly normal for any time, never mind during a pandemic and in the run up to Christmas.
During normal times I usually tell my US customers that orders tend to take 1-2 weeks (but it can be up to 6 weeks). Coming up to Christmas I’d normally say 1-4 weeks, and right now I’m not giving estimates, just saying order as soon as possible and expect delays. I haven’t had many orders to the US this year, but I wouldn’t be surprised at anywhere between 1-8 weeks.
I certainly wouldn’t replace just yet, explain to them that delays are to be expected as it’s coming up to Christmas and there’s likely to be staff shortages throughout the postal service due to the pandemic, hopefully they’ll be understanding and a little more patient.
2 weeks is the bare minimum I’d expect a parcel to the states to take at the moment even if RM think it will only take 7 working days (7 working days was the norm at christmas when there isn’t a pandemic). RM doesn’t consider it lost until 5 weeks after the due date so ask them to be patient.
Isn’t that always the way, as soon as you complain it suddenly turns up!
Glad to hear it’s got there though, and that US post isn’t taking too long at the moment.
