Monthly Makes Challenge March 2026 SPRING

It’s March everyone! How did that happen?

This Month’s topic is Spring! :cherry_blossom:

The aim of the challenge is to make something (anything you like) with a Spring theme.

Anyone can join in, you can use any medium, new or old. We show our work in progress and then show the final pieces at the end of the month.

I’m going to choose Spring flowers for my theme this month. I will probably make a lino cut and then print into the clay.
Now I’ve just got to choose which flowers to use!

Great, my own line of thought on this is heading out of the box…

I can imagine you making something with an actual spring?

Great deduction Sarah, @dotterypottery - you got it first time…

This one is from an office chair

In the evenings I like to do a bit of hand knitting or crochet and have a few projects on the go at the moment. I recently started a crochet baby blanket in pastel colours, which are pretty spring like, so I’m going to try and get that finished by the end of the month for this months challenge. When the daylight is better I’ll take a picture of what I’ve done so far.

That’s a hefty spring from an office chair - I don’t know what I was expecting from an office chair but it wasn’t that! Look forward to seeing what you do with it!

My first time posting here @dotterypottery
Just finding my way around if I am honest !
I would like to showcase my upcycled T Pot which hubby broke and was going to throw out!
Glad her never

Yes it is quite a chunky spring though the photo is a little deceptive as it is a close up and there is nothing to scale it with, the spring is about 80mm, just over 3 inches, long and came from the ‘recline/tilt’ mechanism of the chair.

It’s intriguing what you’ll come up with Mick

I’m not entirely sure myself at the moment, watch this space…

That is a good chunky spring. Can’t wait to see what you do with it

My spring project is hopefully trying my hand at a zine about Spring Onions. Trying to fathom out procreate at the moment and jotting down ideas. If I get frustrated with it will be watercolour and ink. Love the spring idea @SteampunkCreativeEngineering Mick. Makes me think of Zebedee from the magic roundabout. Very creative way to upcycle a tea pot @vesselsofcuriosity Karen love the little buzzy bees.

How is everyone getting on this month?

I’m just going to take some photographs today of what I’ve been making. Some of it has been a bit Easter themed but there are a lot of spring flowers going on!

How is your blanket coming along Kim @KBCreations?

Did you manage to make anything out of that spring, Mick @SteampunkCreativeEngineering ?

I was planning to make a little zine regarding spring but that fell by the wayside so I started to make some Gelli Prints instead. I haven’t done any for ages but my Sister came along and was asking about them so we had a bit of a craft day which was nice. Here are my efforts. Influenced by the a load of daffodils I planted back in November time. I have popped them both in my shop.

Sarah @dotterypottery, I’ve only managed a few more stripes so it won’t get finished this month unfortunately. I’ve been busy with few family requests for socks, as well as finishing some things for my shop which I had cut out. I’ve also had couple of episodes of vertigo which hasn’t helped.
